Born in Palermo/Italy. Study of Classical Philology and Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies

Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies /University of Vienna. - 1980-1984: Collaboration to
the edition of the Register of the Constantinopolitan Patriarchate (vols. I and II).- Since 1994
University Lecturer at the Institute of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies / University of
Vienna. - 1999-2013 Senior Research Fellow at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Institute
of Medieval Studies / Division of Byzantine Research: Project “Byzantine Lexicography”. Since 2014 retired.
Main scientific interests: Comparative Studies in the field of Medieval Fictional Narrative,
Cultural Exchange between Byzantium and the Medieval West, Vernacular Literature in late
Byzantium, Language an Identity, Cultural Studies.

„Byzantinische Lexikographie“. Seit 2014 ehrenamtliche Mitarbeiterin.
Wissenschaftliche Forschungsinteressen: Komparatistische Studien im Bereich der
mittelalterlichen Erzählliteratur, Kultur Austausch zwischen Byzanz und des mittelalterlichen
Westens, vulgärsprachliche Literatur im späten Byzanz, Sprache und Identität, Cultural
studies.
