Three student assistants (60 hrs/mth)
The project:
Compilation of a 16-volume source edition in line with the German original version but updated and
adapted for an English-language readership: "Die Verfolgung und Ermordung der europäischen Juden
durch das nationalsozialistische Deutschland 1933-1945" (VEJ), co-edited by the German Federal
Archives, the Institute of Contemporary History Munich-Berlin and the University of Freiburg, and
funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Further details can be found here under

Range of duties:
- Assistance in compiling the volumes
- Using an XML-based editing system
- Index compilation
- Researching bibliographical references
- Checking biographical details
Requirements:
University studies in modern history, Jewish studies, or a related subject. Knowledge of and interest
in the history of the Nazi persecution and murder of the European Jews, and Jewish history. English
native speaker or excellent written and spoken English skills. Excellent written and spoken German
skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Attention to detail.
Duration of contract:
1 year (with the possibility of extending for another year)
The net hourly wage for MA students is €11.15, for BA students €9.58.
