Seit Lorenz Wagner im bayerischen Jetzendorf das Unternehmen 1923 als Schuhmacher gegründet hat.
Noch heute schlägt das Herz der Marke in dem Dorf, wo vor über 90 Jahren alles begann. Diese Beständigkeit, die sich auch in teilweise sehr langen Betriebszugehörigkeiten unserer bestens ausgebildeten
Fachkräfte widerspiegelt, ist ein wichtiger Teil unserer Marken-DNA. Dazu gehören weitere Faktoren, wie
perfekte Passform, Funktionalität und der Wille Gutes noch besser zu machen und auf der Basis des
Bewährten auch etwas ganz Neues zu schaffen, das den Veränderungen in unserer Welt gerecht wird.
In diesem Katalog sind neben bestens bewährten Modellen, die kontinuierlich weiter optimiert werden, auch
neue und deutlich modifizierte Modelle zu finden. Multifunktion, vielseitige Modelle sind gefragt. Dem haben
wir in der neuen Kollektion ebenso Rechnung getragen, wie dem klaren Wunsch nach Leichtigkeit.
Je härter der Einsatz, desto mehr Bedeutung gewinnt das niedrige Gewicht der Schuhe. Das darf nicht
auf Kosten der Stabilität, der Qualität und der Haltbarkeit gehen. Durch den Einsatz neuer, leichterer Materialien, die eingehende Labor- und Praxisprüfungen bestehen mussten, ist es gelungen, hoch belastbare
Schuhe mit spürbaren Gewichtsvorteilen zu entwickeln. Leder wird dabei verstärkt durch hochabriebfeste
und extrem reißfeste und atmungsaktive Synthetik-Materialien ersetzt. Der Vorteil: mehr Tragekomfort ohne
Leistungseinbuße.
Top-Qualität hat für uns höchste Priorität. LOWA setzt bewusst zu 100 % auf Made in Europe. Wichtigster
Standort und Kompetenzzentrum ist und bleibt dabei ganz klar Jetzendorf mit seinen sehr erfahrenen Mitarbeitern und dem wohl modernsten Maschinenpark, in den permanent weiter investiert wird. Dadurch können
neue Technologien und Fertigungsverfahren direkt vor Ort in kürzester Zeit ausprobiert, modifiziert und zur
Serienreife entwickelt werden.

since the shoemaking company was founded by Lorenz Wagner in the Bavaria town of Jetzendorf in 1923.
Still today, the pulse of the brand beats in the same town where it all began more than 90 years ago. This consistency is an
essential part of our brand’s DNA, and it is in fact reflected in part by the long association with our brand that so many of
our best-trained expert shoemakers have. A number of factors play a part in this, such as perfect fit, performance, and the
desire not only to make something good even better, but also to use our tried-and-tested foundation to create something
new – where any changes must live up to our high demands.
In this catalogue, alongside our well-proven models that are constantly being improved, you will also find new and
reengineered models. Multifunctional, versatile models are in demand. We have given these their rightful place in our new
range just as we have too the desire for lightness.
The tougher the use, the more important it is for footwear to be lightweight. But this cannot be gained at the expense
of sturdiness, quality and durability. With the use of newer, lighter materials – all of which have to undergo and pass
exhaustive laboratory and real-life testing – we have succeeded at developing incredibly durable footwear with significant
weight advantages. As a part of this, leather has been increasingly replaced with highly abrasion-resistant, extremely tearresistant and breathable synthetics. The advantage: higher comfort without any loss in performance.
The highest quality is a priority for us. LOWA stands 100 % by ‘Made in Europe’. The most important production facility and
competence centre clearly is and will remain Jetzendorf. There, we have highly experienced associates and perhaps the
most modern plant in which we continue to invest. With this, we can try out new technology and manufacturing methods
directly on site, modifying and engineering for final production in the shortest time.
Our mountain and outdoor enthusiasts gain from this just as does everyone who needs premium, quality footwear for
doing demanding jobs. We are proud that police forces, forestry workers and hunters in many countries put their trust
in our quality products. As do too military special operations forces and NATO Response Forces. We are truly appreciative

¬ Das Stanzen des Leders erfordert viel Geschick und Erfahrung.
¬ Die Brandsohle wird an den Leisten geheftet.
¬ Jeder Schaft wird von Hand in bis zu 75 Arbeitsgängen vernäht.
¬ Stanzformen aus Metall für die einzelnen Schuhteile werden auf dem flach
ausgebreiteten Leder ausgelegt. Anschließend werden die Teile aus dem
Leder gestanzt.
¬ Die Schuhschäfte durchlaufen anschließend eine Dampfkammer. Hier werden
sie mittels Dampf und Hitze geschmeidig gemacht.
¬ Stark beanspruchte Schuhbereiche werden doppelt vernäht.
¬ Bei einigen Modellen werden bis zu 30 einzelne Lederteile verarbeitet, für
die jeweils eine eigene Stanzform erforderlich ist.

4. EINSÄUMEN_HEMMING

Für den oberbayerischen Traditionshersteller LOWA steht die Qualität der
Produkte bereits seit 1923 absolut im Vordergrund. Diesen Qualitätsansatz
auf den gesamten betrieblichen Ablauf zu transferieren, alle Mitarbeiter
entsprechend zu schulen und zu motivieren ist ein permanenter Prozess, den
die Verantwortlichen bei LOWA stets vorantreiben.
Im Rahmen einer Überprüfung durch das Prüf- und Forschungsinstitut für die
Schuhindustrie (PFI) hat die LOWA Sportschuhe GmbH nun die Zertifizierung
nach der DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 für Berg- und Trekkingschuhe für die Bereiche
Entwicklung, Herstellung und Vertrieb mit einem Ergebnis von 100 % erreicht.

100 % in the categories of Development, Production and Sales.

… ist das wichtigste Material der Schuhherstellung, weil es durch seine einzigartige Kombination von verschiedenen Eigenschaften unerreichte Vorteile
bietet. Leder ist – allgemein gesagt – „tierische Haut, die durch die Gerbung
haltbar gemacht wurde“. Das Leder, das bei LOWA-Schuhen eingesetzt wird,
stammt ausschließlich von Rindern.

unique combination of different properties that offer unrivalled advantages.
Leather, generally speaking, is animal skin that is made durable through the
process of tanning. The leather used for LOWA footwear comes exclusively
from cows.
LEDERARTEN_TYPES OF LEATHER
¬ Glattleder (gedecktes Leder, Anilinleder, usw.):
obere Hautschichten (Papillarschicht + Retikularschicht), empfindlich
gegen Kratzer
¬ Nubukleder (samtartig oder gewachst): obere Hautschichten
(leicht angeschliffen), relativ unempfindlich und stabil, ideal für
Trekkingstiefel
¬ Veloursleder, bzw. Spaltleder: mittlere Hautschichten (Retikularschicht),
Fasern sichtbar, sehr robust, eingeschränkte Reißfestigkeit
¬ Smooth leather: outer hide (papillary + reticular layer), susceptible to
scratches
¬ Nubuck leather (natural or waxed): outer hide layers (lightly roughed),
relatively hardwearing and sturdy, perfect for trekking boots
¬ Suede or split leather: middle hide layers (reticular layer), visible fibers,
very tough, limited tearstrength
EIGENSCHAFTEN UND VORTEILE_
PROPERTIES AND BENEFITS
DIE GERBUNG_TANNING
Leder ist strapazierfähig und abriebfest, dehnbar und formbeständig (wichtig
für Passform und Aussehen des Schuhs), es isoliert, ist flexibel und bricht
nicht (wichtig für die Abrollbewegung), es kann sehr viel Feuchtigkeit in Form
von Wasserdampf aufnehmen (wichtig für das Fußklima), es kann wasserabweisend ausgerüstet werden, ohne seine Wasserdampfdurchlässigkeit zu
verlieren (Hydrophobierung) und vieles mehr.
Hauptaufgabe der Gerbung ist es, die Haut durch Einlagerung von Gerbstoffen
vor Fäulnis zu schützen, wobei die Grundstruktur des Materials erhalten
bleibt. Gleichzeitig werden durch verschiedene Gerb- und Nachbehandlungsmethoden die unterschiedlichsten Eigenschaften beim fertigen Leder erzeugt.
Weiches Bordürenleder, geschmeidiges Futterleder, stabiles Oberleder – alles
wird im Prinzip aus dem gleichen Grundprodukt hergestellt.
Leather is tough and durable, stretchable and holds its shape (important for
fit and appearance in footwear); it is insulating, flexible and does not break
(important for the biomechanical roll-off movement); it can absorb a lot of
liquid in the form of vapor (important for foot climate), it can be water repellent treated (hydrophobicized) without losing its moisture vapor transmission
properties and much more.
The main function of tanning is to preserve the skin by treating it with tanning
chemicals, which are absorbed into the core structure of the material. At the
same time, the various tanning and finishing processes bring out the potential
properties of the finished leather. Soft edging leather, silky lining leather,
sturdy uppers leather – all of them come from the same core product.

FUTTERMATERIAL_LINING
Ein gutes Schuhfutter muss für den Fuß grundsätzlich ein optimales Schuh
innenklima schaffen. Die bei körperlichen Aktivitäten entstehende Feuchtigkeit muss auf schnellstem Wege vom Fuß weggeleitet und nach außen
transportiert werden. Nur so können Hitzestau und Blasenbildung verhindert
werden. Eine schnelle Rücktrocknung des Materials sollte gewährleistet sein,
um die „Wartezeit“ nach einer Tour nicht unnötig zu verlängern. Gleichzeitig
muss sich die Oberfläche angenehm anfühlen und das Material faltenfrei im
Schuh liegen.
Good footwear lining materials must fundamentally provide optimal
temperature regulation. Moisture produced during physical activity must
be allowed to escape and be transported away from the foot. In that way
heat build-ups and blisters can be prevented. The materials must also be
guaranteed to dry quickly after use in order to minimise the waiting time
after an adventure. At the same time the surface must feel good to the
touch, and it must lay in footwear without creases or folds.
GORE-TEX® - das Schuhfutter Ein doppellagiges Futtermaterial wird mit der GORE-TEX® Membran
verbunden. Dieses GORE-TEX® Footwear System sorgt dafür, dass die
Schuhe wasserdicht und atmungsaktiv sind. Es verhindert, dass Wasser in den Schuh eindringt, lässt Ihre Füße aber dennoch „atmen“ und
schafft so idealen Klimakomfort im Schuh. Und das auch bei Kälte,
Schnee und widrigsten Witterungsbedingungen.
Leder - das Schuhfutter Hier wird bei LOWA geschmeidiges, weiches Rind-Nappaleder mit
1 bis 1,5 mm Dicke verwendet. Es wird nicht gefärbt, wodurch die Poren völlig offen bleiben. Dadurch liegt die Wasseraufnahmefähigkeit
etwa bei 200 % des Eigengewichts. Die hohe Feuchtigkeitsaufnahme
und der angenehme Sitz eines ledergefütterten Schuhs ermöglichen
ein langes komfortables Laufen mit trockenen, nicht zu heißen Füßen. Lediglich bei langen Touren, z. B. über mehrere Tage, muss die
längere Trockenzeit eines ledergefütterten Schuhs berücksichtigt
werden. GORE-TEX® footwear lining
A two-layer lining material is bonded to the GORE-TEX® membrane
to create the GORE-TEX® Footwear System which keeps the footwear
waterproof yet still breathable. It prevents water from seeping into
the footwear, but still lets your foot „breathe“ and creates an ideally
temperature-regulated environment in the shoe. This, too, even in the
cold, in the snow and in the most adverse weather conditions.

Leather footwear lining
LOWA uses soft, buttery Nappa leather from cows that is 1-1.5 mm
thick. It is not dyed, therefore retaining its open pores. That means
its ability to absorb water lies somewhere around 200 percent of its
own weight.
Its large capacity to absorb moisture as well as the Comfortable fit
of a leather-lined boot enables long and pleasant wear time while
still while maintaining dry feet that don‘t overheat. Occasionally on
lengthy treks, for example over several days, one has to take extra
care to allow sufficient drying time of a leather-lined boot.
Textil - das Schuhfutter

Textile footwear lining
When it comes to footwear linings, LOWA prides itself on a perfectly
combined mix of polyester and polyamide materials. With that we
achieve a high level of Comfort in our footwear based on the combination‘s multi-faceted characteristics, including its ability to dissipate
heat and moisture, a high abrasion-resistance and durability, as well
as its pleasant hand feel.
