House rules of the Goldenes Kreuz private clinic
Dear patients and visitors,
To make your stay at our hospital as pleasurable as possible, we kindly ask you to
observe the following house rules. We care about your well-being – help us create an
atmosphere of mutual respect!
Rules for patients, escorts, visitors and staff
(1) In order to ensure a successful treatment and smooth procedures, all patients, escorts
and visitors are kindly asked to follow the instructions of the doctors and hospital staff
of the Goldenes Kreuz private clinic.
(2) Patients, escorts, visitors and hospital staff at the Goldenes Kreuz private clinic are
asked to treat each other with respect and consideration, particularly regarding
unnecessary noise and disturbances.
(3) Except for designated smoking zones, smoking is prohibited at the Goldenes Kreuz
private clinic. We particularly ask you not to smoke in patient rooms!
(4) Every patient room is equipped with a safe for you to store your money and valuables
up to a value of € 1,000. Any valuables worth up to € 3,000 should be deposited
against a receipt with the admission office. The Goldenes Kreuz private clinic is only
liable for money and valuables if they are locked in the safe or deposited with the
admission office.
(5) Patients, escorts and visitors are not allowed to enter the hospital’s utility rooms and
kitchen.
(6) Any deliberate or negligent damage to hospital property has to be compensated for.
(7) Any objects left at the hospital that are not collected within 10 weeks after your stay
will be given to a charitable facility.
(8) In case of gross violation of the house rules, the hospital management has the right to
order premature discharge of a patient or ban individual visitors from the hospital.

Hospital organization and services
(1) Hospital organization and treatment procedures at the Goldenes Kreuz private clinic
are tailored to the needs of our patients and their individual requirements. We
acknowledge cultural differences and religious beliefs and try to respect them in our
services.
(2) For information, comments or suggestions for improvement please contact our quality
management, Head of Department, Medical Director, Chief Nursing Officer or
Administration Manager.
In addition, all patients can consult the services of the Vienna Nursing and Patient
Advocacy. The “Wiener Pflege-, Patientinnen- und Patientenanwaltschaft“ is
independent and not subject to directives. The main aim of this institution is to protect
and enforce your rights and interests in all matters regarding the healthcare and
nursing sector in Vienna.

(3) It is not permitted to distribute any advertising or information materials on the premises
of the Goldenes Kreuz private clinic without prior consent of the management team.
(4) We kindly ask you not to bring any animals to the Goldenes Kreuz private clinic.
(5) For reasons of fire protection, open fire and candles are not allowed on the hospital
premises.
(6) For hygiene reasons, potted plants are not allowed within the hospital wards.

Protection of patient rights
The patient rights based on the regulations of the current version of the “Wiener
Krankenanstaltengesetz“ (“Viennese Hospital Act“) are binding for all employees of
the Goldenes Kreuz private clinic.
Every employee is obliged to enable all patients to exercise their following rights:
a)
right to considerate and respectful care
b)
right to adequate protection of your privacy
c)
right to confidentiality
d)
right to professional treatment and care which is as painless as possible
e)
right to comprehensive information about possible treatments and their risks
f)
right to consent to or refuse treatment
g)
right to review your medical records and to obtain a copy of them
h)
right of patients and close relatives to be provided with medical information in as
comprehensible and gentle a manner as possible by a doctor who is authorized to
independently exercise the medical profession
i)
right to adequate opportunities to receive visitors and maintain outside contacts
j)
right to see close relatives and friends also outside visiting hours in case of a
sustainable deterioration of your state of health
k)
children who have been admitted to the hospital for in-patient treatment have the
right to hospital rooms which are furnished in a way that suits their special needs
l)
right to religious assistance and psychological support
m)
right to leave the hospital before the end of the advised length of stay
n)
you have the right to be issued a patient letter
o)
right to make suggestions and complaints
p)
right to terminal care
q)
right to die a dignified death and maintain contact with close family or friends
