A varied and adventurous
summer programme:
A CARD FOR
ADVENTURES
What do you
fancy doing?
Your summer adventures in the Gastein
Valley are brought together in the versatile
Almorama brand.
Almorama includes the mountains
described on the inside page; Stubnerkogel and Graukogel in Bad Gastein,
Schlossalm in Bad Hofgastein and
Fulseck in Dorfgastein. Each of these mountains offers guests something
entirely unique and together with the
other mountains, it provides a mix of
adventures to satisfy everyone’s needs
and interests. The Almorama Card is
valid for all cable-car and lift facilities
in the whole of the Gastein Valley. It is
available at all the cable-car valley sta-
tions of the Gastein
Valley as a 3, 4, 5, 6 or
13-day card. The card
is valid for one person
only and is not transferable.

In the meantime some cable-car companies have taken
certification for your summer offer. What are the advantages for visitors?
At present the Gastein Valley is probably the only valley in the Alps which
offers visitors a variety of summer experiences within a compact area but on
a group of mountains, satisfying a large
range of needs and interests.
The “Best Austrian Summer Lifts” award is globally the
only quality seal that rewards cable-car companies who
provide creative offers within the categories of “family”,
“adventure”, “culinary & culture”, “panorama and experiences of nature”, “active and healthy”. Inspections are
robust and take place every three years so visitors can be
sure that these summer offers are not merely marketing
ploys but represent attractions that are exciting, unique
and up-to-date. Our understanding of “Almorama” is
that it is like a drama with a series of
very different acts. So we expect that,
while on holiday, Gastein Valley visitors will have a mental picture of the
entire “Almorama” and not just one
mountain or another.
There’s only one in the whole of Austria. A 140-metrelong suspension bridge at 2,300 metres above sea level,
accessible and walkable all year round.

ALmorama –
four mountains
full of beautiful
moments
Three resorts – Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein and Dorfgastein – offer summer mountain adventure collectively. The different leisure activities offered at Stubnerkogel,
Schlossalm, Graukogel and Fulseck are combined under the Almorama brand.
Each of the four mountains has its own special magic offering leisure activities suited to its particular environment.
There is something for all needs and interests. What is on
offer has been combined under the umbrella brand Almorama: a name that conjures up a comprehensive summer experience, promising four “mountains full of beautiful moments”. The Almorama Card was developed that so guests
can take advantage of these. The ticket includes all cable-car
trips on the four named mountains and allows visitors the
opportunity to put together their own programme.
Quality award “best summer cable car”
But the Almorama brand also offers quality as well as quantity. The cable-car companies carry the “best Austrian summer cable car” seal. Quality inspector, Arnold Oberacher,
explains: “This certification is only awarded to cable cars
that provide attractive summer offers and a certain basic
quality from a guest’s viewpoint. Criteria range from how
information is presented on the website to the visual appearance in summer to on-site staff expertise”. A good view is
not enough to earn the quality seal; there must be evidence
of a corresponding range of activities.
Colour coding system to find your way
To ensure visitors can easily find their way around, the
Almorama brand works on a special colour coding system.
In information brochures, area maps, on notices and signposts visitors will find a certain colour for each mountain;
orange for Stubnerkogel, blue for Schlossalm, red for Graukogel and violet for Fulseck. Using this colour code, visitors
can find at a glance what is available on the different mountains. There is more about this on the next two pages.
Climbing on Schlossalm is
for beginners and the more
experienced alike. You can
choose the level of difficulty
to suit your ability.

WORLDS OF
experience ON
SCHLOSSALM
The most diverse of the four mountains is Schlossalm in Bad Hofgastein.
Experiences range from circular walks around Lake Schlossalm to
adventurous fixed-rope routes to Scooter tours, a Slackline Park and a
kids’ play area.
When you do the circular walk round the summit station
you’ll experience one panoramic adventure after another.
One of these is crossing the suspension bridge – a particularly thrilling experience. But have no fear because, as Franz
Schafflinger, head of the lift company, knows: “With its
support and wind cables to limit vibration the bridge can
withstand wind speeds of up to 200 km/h”.
Standing on the Glocknerblick viewpoint you’ll enjoy the
sight of the highest mountain in Austria, the Großglockner. The path continues to what is known as the rock trail,
taking you through areas that, in part, are very steep and
craggy. The views – both outwards and downwards – are
impressive and enjoyable everywhere on the route. Sights
of a different kind are provided by the highest street art
in Europe, on the walls of the Stubnerkogel transmitter
station. There’s a 250 m² indoor kids’ play area at the cablecar station. And wheelchair users can get to the accessible
attractions by cable car.
The best way to enjoy the Arolla pine wood is to do the circular walk located very
close by the cable-car station. This takes you through an especially beautiful pine
wood, with trees up to three-hundred years old. The very particular fragrance of
the “Queen of the Alps” is relaxing and beneficial. To try this out, you can pause
at one of the resting places. There are inviting and romantic spots to linger awhile
at the edge of the path. Discover the enormous Arolla pine four-poster bed, a
picnic spot, a pine oasis and a number of pine-wood swings. And you can also
experience the Arolla pine in every sense by enjoying a glass of pine schnapps at
the mountain hut. FOUR MOUNTAINS
Fulseck in Dorfgastein is an ideal place for families. The good thing
here is that you can access the mountain on foot and thus experience
nature in a very special way.
There are good places to chill around Lake Spiegelsee which in winter serves as a reservoir for
snowmaking. Relax on the comfortable seating
and lounging elements. There’s a barefoot pathway around the lake with a variety of surfaces
underfoot providing foot reflexology massage to
free your mind. With a little skill you’ll master
crossing the lake by the wobbly bridge. Other
great adventures include paragliding and hang
gliding. Whether young or old, plump or slim,

everyone can have a go. Tandem flights can be
undertaken without prior experience. Those who
prefer to be on terra firma can choose between
mountain biking, Nordic walking and mountain
hiking along various themed trails. Seeing, hearing and understanding are the focus of the nature
trails at Fulseck. For kids there’s a play area in the
wood. Equipped with hammer and rucksack you
can go in search of tiny pieces of rock crystal at
the “Kristallplatz”. Fulseck is paradise for
paragliders and hang
gliders. For those without
previous experience
there’s the option of a
tandem flight.
For people who can let their imagination run riot there are all
sorts of stone silhouettes to be seen on the hiking trails. It only
needs two imaginary ears for a cow to be revealed in this rock.
If you like physical activity you have the choice
of various fixed-rope climbing routes. Beginners who are not confident about using the
real fixed-rope routes can get in training on a
practice fixed-rope route. At the summit station there’s a kids’ play area. It is equipped with
a giant bouncy cushion, a guerilla slide, a crawl
tunnel and loads more! The guided scooter
and mountain-cart rides are suitable for kids
and adults alike. What is needed in the Slackline Park is concentration and agility. Those who
keep their eyes open while enjoying a circular
walk will discover the odd hidden silhouette of a
rock creature. with colour coding system
Graukogel: the wonder of Arolla pines – good for the heart
The atmosphere on Graukogel in Bad Gastein is imbued with the fragrance of
the native Arolla pine. Its effect on the heart and your health is calming. And
the pines create an especially romantic ambience.
Stubnerkogel: take a look and be bold
Stubnerkogel in Bad Gastein promises 360° panoramic
views of the mountain landscape all around. You’ll need a
bit of courage to cross the 140-metre suspension bridge or
to take the rock trail.
Schlossalm: Discover yourself in the rocks and stones
The Schlossalm in Bad Hofgastein offers something from everything:
hiking, climbing or simply having fun with the kids. If you let your
imagination run riot you will also meet lots of hidden silhouettes of
rock creatures on the Schlossalm.
Fulseck: Adventure – wind and water
Leisure activities on the Fulseck are all dominated by the elements
of water, earth and air. At Lake Spiegelsee practise your sense of
balance crossing the lake on the wobbly bridge. Other adventures
include paragliding, hang gliding and mountain biking.
