Marketing: The Foundation of Advertising II
What is art, what is design? Content of the
seminars are the tools of marketing to steer
entrepreneurial success: Product, price,
distribution, communication; benefit, value and
use of the product; core functionality and
appearance of brands; trademarks, patents and
copyright; copy writing and the design of
messages for advertising, etc.
The course provides an insigth how
commercials are produced. From the first idea
to the finished film: including all steps of
preproduction, to the shoot and the
postproduction process. The course includes
practical experience in developing storylines
and getting an overview of the calculation
process. It will also show the wide spectrum of
national and international commercials.
Webdesign
In its first phase, this course offers a
comprehensive overview over current technical
and aesthetic methods and tools while
designing for the internet. In the second phase,
students will be asked to explore and employ
this newly acquired knowledge while designing
and programming a website to a specific
briefing.

chapters dedicated to concepts that are of
importance up to today: Post-Conceptualism
and Post-Mediality, questions about artistic
genre, documentation and presentation of
artistic works, migration and globalization,
social engagement and artistic autonomy.
PS Übung vor Originalen, This lecture consists of
museum visits (Kunsthistorisches Museum
Wien) to exercise how to develop an
interpretation in front of the original art work
and how to present this art work to a group.
„Oh, Wildnis, Oh Schutz Vor Ihr!“ The title of
this course („Oh Wilderness, Oh Protection from
It“) is from a novel by Elfriede Jelinek. The
history of civilization is a long line of
glorification and destruction of nature, of the
longing for a wilderness, that is associated with
the idea of a primordial freedom, on the one
hand – and the urgent need of taming this
wilderness. In this course we will trace these
actions and reactions of conquering and
preserving nature, as well as ideas of frontier
and paradise garden.
