文型のポイントと受動態
私が乗ったタクシーは / 警察に / 止め | られた。
(My / by / police / stopped / taxi / the / was) .
My taxi was stopped by the police.

受動態「～される」be 動詞+過去分詞
by 以下が動作主（能動態で主語にあたる）
このスープは / とても | おいしい / 味がする //
(/ good / soup / tastes / very) .
This soup tastes very good. be 動詞を使わない S V C の文型（S = C）

１匹の猫が / ソファに / 寝て / いる //
(A / cat / is / lying / on / sofa / the) .
A cat is lying on the sofa.

lie 「横たわる」は自動詞（直接目的語を付属しない）
※活用変化にも注意 lie – lay – lain
⇔ lay「横にする／寝かせる」とは別
lay – laid - laid
妻は / 私に / セーターを / 作ってくれた。
(My / a / for / made / me / sweater / wife) .
My wife made [a sweater] for [me] . 「もの」が先の場合は for を用いる[S V O の文型]
= My wife made [me] [a sweater] .
「ひと」が先の場合は不要 [S V O O の文型]

last は自動詞（「続く」の意味 ⇔ 「最後の」とは別モノ）
①その発明は / ③その科学者を / ④金持ち / ②にした。
(The / invention / made / rich / scientist / the) .
The invention made [the scientist] rich.
S V O C の文型（O=C の関係になる） make, name, call, select 等でこの文型を作ることが多い

君は / なぜ / 今日 / 会議に / 出席し / なかったのか。
(Why / attend / didn't / meeting / the / today / you) ?
Why didn't you attend the meeting today? 理由を尋ねる否定疑問文「なぜ～しないの？」
後方は「場所」「時間」の順番で

(I / borrow / from / had / money / my / parents / some / to) .
I had to borrow some money from my parents.
助動詞 have to（～しなくてはならない）
法助動詞（will / may 等と併せて使えるのもポイント）

そのメールは / 誤って / 顧客に / 送られた //

The e-mail was sent to the customers by mistake.

無生物主語+受動態
①姉は / ⑤自分より / ④ずっと背の低い / ③男性と / ②結婚した。
(My / a / herself / man / married / much / shorter / sister / than) .
My sister married a man [ much shorter than herself ].
marry は他動詞で目的語を伴う
「男性」の説明は長くなるので後置修飾

The picture [on the wall] was painted by a famous artist. 受動態の典型的な文例（by 動作主）
 A famous artist painted the picture on the wall.
「絵」も後置修飾で

I was so tired [that] I couldn’t keep my eyes open.

「あまりにも～なので…できない」
