2-26 比較（３）
（１）the + 最上級(−est) in / of + 集団の語句「∼の中で一番…だ」の文
最上級をあつかう文は、一種の強調で、in や of が付いた集団を表す語句といっしょに
使う。また the を最上級の前に必ず付けることも大切だ。やはり抽象的な説明よりは、具
体的に進める。設例の中にある番号順に読んで、自分で作ってみよう。
《設例 1》in と of の使い分けに注意し、『集団を表す語句』を付け最上級に変える。
◇集団を表す語句が付くと the+最上級になる。

◇前に冠詞 a、an があればそれを the にするつもりで…
【c】 The girl is a good student ＋

［赤下線部を最上級に変化］
→ The girl is the best student of them all.
(その女の子は彼ら全員の中で一番優秀な生徒だ)
（２）the most を使う最上級と練習問題
三音節以上ある「長い」形容詞や副詞を、最上級として使う時は、the most+形容詞
や副詞の原形になる。その他は特に変わりはない。
《設例 2》［
］の語句に前置詞を補充し、文尾に付けると、最上級になる。
◇形容詞＋単数名詞なら、a が the に変化することも大切
【a】 This is a famous book ＋

→ This is the most famous book in the world.
(これは世界で一番有名な本です[何でしょう？])

下線部の語は最上級に変え(形容詞なら the を付けるが、副詞には付けても、付けなくても良い)、意
味が通るように並び換えて全文を書き、和訳しなさい。
