札束入りのスーツケースが埋めら
れるシーンがくみこの脳裏に焼き
つく。その地に向かうことを決め
たくみこは、今までに想像したこ
ともない危険な旅をすることとな
る。くみこを演じるのは、日本人
女優の菊池凛子。

Ireland: Crossroads of Art and
Design, 1690–1840 expands
on the Knight of Glin’s vision to
include paintings, sculpture, and
architecture. Irish book bindings,
ceramics, glass, furniture,
metalwork, musical instruments,
and textiles are also featured
in a series of "Made in Ireland"
galleries highlighting Dublin, Cork,
Belfast, and Waterford as centers
of production. Presenting over
300 objects drawn from public
and private collections across
North America—as well as the
Art Institute’s own important
collection of Irish decorative and
fine arts—this exhibition is the first
to explore the rich and complex art
and culture of Ireland during the
long 18th century. The Art Institute
of Chicago is not only the first but
the only venue to present this show
celebrating the Irish as artists,
collectors, and patrons—a
fitting tribute to Chicago’s
own deep Irish roots.

東洲斎写楽は、18 世紀後半の版画家
である。1794 年夏から 1795 年春に
かけて、150 枚もの作品を生み出した
画家として知られているが、その前
後の活動記録がないために東洲斎写
楽は多くの議論と研究を呼んだ。彼
の初期の作品は、雲母を用いて暗さと
光を作り出した背景に、江戸の歌舞伎
座の舞台に立っていた歌舞伎役者の
上半身を描いたものが多い。しかし、
歌舞伎が人気を迎えるとともに、東
洲斎写楽は新たな作風で描き始める。
白い雲母で明るい背景を描き、二人
の人物の全身を絵に収めた。
東洲斎写楽の作品を保管する世界有
数の博物館として知られる The Art

at the University of Kansas and lecturer at
the Kansas City Art Institute, will speak about
the images of Japanese Empress Teimei
(1884-1952) and how print and photographic
images of the Empress impacted ideas about
modern femininity in the early decades of
the 20th century. Her research focuses on
modern and contemporary Japanese art with
additional research areas in contemporary
transnational art and Buddhist art.

Tsugaru Shamisen &
Taiko Concert
Yamaguchi is a member of the famous
shamisen group "Hayate", along with Kenichi
Yoshida, producer of international superstar
duo the Yoshida Brothers.
Yoshihiko Fueki has been playing Japanese
drum since he was 15 years old, and
joined professional Japanese drum group
"DUCUNTO" in 2001. Since 2006, he has
been playing the drum and spreading its
culture all over the world.
「和太鼓の武者」と呼ばれる山口晃司と、
「津軽三
味線の若獅」と称される笛木良彦によるセッショ
ンライブが開催される。
三味線の先生をしていた母親の下で育った山
口晃司は、国際的にも評価されている三味線演奏
家。又、笛木良彦は、プロ和太鼓邦楽演奏集団「打
歓人」の退団以降、ソロとして世
界中で太鼓の魅力を伝えている。
