平成26年度九州歯科学会主催講演会 Two-staged temporomandibular joint replacement for treatment of recurrent ankylosis and facial trauma Weston Oral Surgery Center Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Dr. Weiguang Ma Abstract Two-staged tempromandibular joint replacement for management of recurrent anklosisi Recurrent ankylosis of the tepromandibular joint (TMJ)is due to heterotopic bone formation that cause partial or complete ankylosis of the joint with symptoms of pain and limited range of motion. 2-staged TMJ replacement with a patient-fitted total TMJ prosthesis was used. At the first stage surgery, the pervious TMJ components were removed and a gap resction including removal of the heterotopic bone completely was preformed. The gap was maintaining by implanting a silicone spacer. Once the patient-fitted device componenets had been designed and manufactured, the second stage surgery was planned with removal of the spacer and placement of the TMJ prosthesis. With 2-3 years follow up. Patients remain asymptomatic and increas mouth open to 35mm range that has remained stable.
