The goal of cataract surgery in the 21st century has moved from restoring sight to correcting refractive error and improving the quality of the patientʼ s vision postoperatively. In addition to current monofocal and multifocal Dr. William Lee President, eMembrane, Inc. (USA) VP, R&D and Regulatory Affairs, AST Products, Inc. (USA) VP of R&D, ICARES Medicus, Inc. (Taiwan) IOLs, research and developments have been made to create the next generations of IOLs, such as drug-eluting and accommodative IOLs.
