JCM_ID_F_PDD_ver03.0 Joint Crediting Mechanism Project Design Document Form Note: This JCM Project Design Document (PDD) is drafted as the result of the GEC’s JCM Feasibility Study Programme in JFY2013. Therefore, this draft PDD is not officially approved by any governments involved in JCM, and is subject to change in the future. A. Project description A.1. Title of the JCM project Hybrid Power System; Solar and Diesel for Mobile Base Station in Off-grid Area –JCM/BOCM Feasible Study A.2. General description of project and applied technologies and/or measures ・In Indonesia, mobile base station network is expanding even in off-grid area as penetration of mobile Tele-communication is expanding. ・At mobile base station in the off-grid area, its electricity supply relies on diesel generator, and management cost of fuel supply because of remote area, and CO2 emission resulting from fossil fuel are the issue. ・In this project, electricity supply from hybrid power system; solar power system, lithium Iron(III) phosphate-ion battery, and diesel generator, Sub-power will be installed to 50 mobile base station sites at the off-grid area. 50 sites location will be determined. ・Power supply from solar system by capitalizing abundant sunshine, CO2 emission from fossil fuel will be reduced as a result of reduction of fuel for diesel generator. ・In this hybrid system, lithium Iron(III) phosphate-ion battery, which is environment friendly , more compact and easier to carry, longer life than lead storage battery which was conventionally used, is used as storage battery technology. ・This project is targeting at 50 existing mobile base stations, hybrid power system; solar power system, lithium Iron(III) phosphate-ion battery, and diesel generator, can be installed at new building mobile base station at the off-grid areas. Explanation of how the project meets eligibility criteria of the approved methodology Eligibility Descriptions specified in the criteria methodology Project site should be mobile base stations (MBS) in off-grid areas. Install a new solar power generation at a site where no renewable power generation was operated prior to the implementation of the project activity In case of existing MBS, prior to the project, diesel generator directly supplies electricity to the mobile base station. In case of new building MBS, diesel generator is installed as sub-power supply source. Hybrid system is the combination of the devices and technology: diesel generator, solar power, and storage battery, and operated without personal at the off-grid area Installed solar power generation system substitutes for a part of a power supply by diesel electric power generation. Adopt environmental safety storage, except a lead storage battery and a nickel cadmium storage battery in consideration of "the risk of environmental pollution" Criterion 1 Criterion 2 Criterion 3 Criterion 4 Criterion 5 Criterion 6 Criterion 7 Project information 3 All MBS covered in this project are in off-grid area of City X. All MBS covered in this project are already existing ones in City X. Before a project, all MBS of this project use 100% of electricity from diesel generator directly. N/A N/A In this project, 70% of electricity is supplied from solar power and 30% is supplied by diesel generator. In this project, phosphate-ion lithium battery, Iron(III) which is environment friendly and long life, is used. JCM_ID_F_PDD_ver03.0 Criterion 8 N/A N/A Criterion 9 N/A N/A Criterion10 N/A N/A C.
