The native Sahtu Dene people were never told how these precious rocks would be used, and they suffered many illnesses because of their exposure to uranium. The Sahtu Dene still face difficult questions about the safety and the morality of permitting uranium mining on their traditional homeland. The director David Henningson will be present to speak about filmmaking and the making of Somba Ke, and to answer questions from the audience. David Henningson is a freelance filmmaker based in London and Tokyo. He has recently completed filming promotional videos for Slash's new album "World On Fire" on Warner Records. Other credits include producing, directing, editing and photography for the National Film Board of Canada, independent documentaries and commercial films.
