University Emblem and Song
学章・学生歌
岩手大学の学章は、公募を行い、桐の花をモチーフに
したデザインが全学生の投票により第１席となり、昭和
２７年に制定されました。
また、開学記念行事の中で校歌の募集が昭和２６年５月
に実施され、審査の結果、学芸学部学生による作詞の
「花ふヽみたる」が「校歌」よりは「学生歌」にふさわ
しいとされて入選し、学芸学部助教授によ
る作曲で昭和２８年に完成し、行事のたびに
歌い継がれています。
学芸学部特設美術科教授
The Emblem of Iwate University was established in 1952.
The general public was invited to offer design proposals for
the university emblem and the current emblem with the
paulownia flower was decided on by a student vote.
The university also invited the school community to propose school song lyrics in May 1951 as part of its anniversary
celebration. Lyrics written by a liberal arts student were
voted as the best, but they were deemed as more fitting for a
@students’songArather than the school
song. Music for the lyrics was composed by an
associate professor of the liberal arts department, and the@ Song of Iwate University
StudentsA was completed in 1953. Today the
song is sung at every school event.

Vision
岩手大学は、真理を探究する教育研究の
場として、学術文化を創造しつつ、幅広く

教育目標
岩手大学は、教養教育と専門教育の調和
を基本として、次のような資質を兼ね備え

増加を続けてきた日本
の人口も、21世紀に入り
初めて減少に転じ、それ
までの成長を基調とする
社会から、成熟した知識基盤社会へと徐々に変貌してき
ました。その内実は依然厳しい競争社会ですが、なおの
こと協力と互恵に基づく共生社会への脱皮が求められて
います。ここで『共生』とは、自然環境と人間社会との
共生はいうに及ばず、世代間の協調や産業間の均衡、さ
らには地方と都市という地域間のバランスの取れた発展
と調和を意味します。加えてグローバルな地域間の調整
を図ることもこれに含まれるでしょう。
まさに21世紀の大学は、共生の時代を切り拓くパート
ナーを育成し、その礎となることを負託されているとい
っても過言ではありません。
平成16年（2004年）4月の国立大学法人化に際し、岩
手大学は『岩手の“大地”と“ひと”と共に』歩むことを
校是に掲げました。これはまさしく、本学に共生の時代
のパートナーとしての責務を課したことといえます。あ
わせて「幅広い教養と学力を有し、高い専門的能力を備
えた人材の育成」と「国際的な水準の優れた研究成果の
積極的発信」を目標に努めてきました。
来年の6月、岩手大学は新制大学として創立60周年を
迎えます。これまで50,000人を超える有為な人材を実社
会に送り出し、我が国の学術・文化の向上に大きな役割
を果たしたことは私たちの大きな誇りです。このように
教育と研究に関する目標を達成し、成果を社会に還元す
ることは、21世紀も変わらぬ大学の地道な使命といえる
でしょう。岩手大学に集う多様な人たちの夢を実現する
こと、共生という視点に立って地域社会の要望に応える
ことなど、これらの使命の達成に向けて創意工夫を重ね
ていかなければならないと考えています。
A partner in an Age of Coexistence

s population, which steadily increased over
historic times, began to decrease for the first time
after the turn of the 21st Century. Today, Japan has
gradually shifted from a society based on industrial
development to one based on intellectual capital.
Although social life still involves often harsh competition, given contemporary challenges, we need to
develop a society of coexistence, based on cooperation
and mutual benefit.“Coexistence”refers here not
only to harmony between the natural environment
and people, but also to reconciliation between generations and among industries, and balanced development between urban and rural regions. This includes
harmonious development in the international arena.
It is not too much to say that in the 21st Century,
universities are being entrusted with the task of fostering partnerships so as to develop such an Age of
Cooperation, and will serve as the base of realizing it.
In April 2004, when national universities were
being restructured into corporate entities, Iwate
University embraced the slogan,“Together with the
Land and People into the future! ”This slogan
expressed our determination to act as a responsible
partner in the coming“Age of Coexistence.”Since
then, we have challenged ourselves with the goals of
“developing human potential with breadth of knowledge, competence, and advanced technical abilities”
and“actively making public the world-class achievements of our institution.”
Next June, Iwate University will celebrate the 60th
anniversary since its establishment as part of the new
university system. We are proud that we have sent
more than 50,000 talented young people out into society, with which we have played an important role in
the nation’
s academic and cultural progress. It will
remain among the missions of 21st Century universities to set goals of education and research, and to
benefit society by the achievements of university
endeavor. As is our duty, we will strive to continue to
help the people who come to Iwate University make
their dreams come true, and to respond to the needs
of local communities, with the idea of coexistence,
provide a variety of courses which nationally draw
attention.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has very unique
Characteristics, rarely found in Japan, one of which is education
research of various liberal arts subjects in a comprehensive way
regardless of whether they are science or four courses in order to provide a balanced opportunity in specialty and generality in hopes of
developing students who can accurately cope with various social and regional problems.

学部の理念を継承しつつ、より高度な専門的・学際的・総合的な学問研究を通して、総
合的視野と高度の専門的判断力を持ち、変貌する現代社会や地域社会の課題解決に貢献し
得る人材の育成を目的としています。また、現代社会におけるリカレント教育の重視にも
こたえ得るような昼夜開講制を採用して、社会人にも門戸を開いています。
The Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences provides its students with an
opportunity for advanced specialized, interdisciplinary and comprehensive academic study
and research so that the students can have a balanced viewpoint, develop accurate judgment
as specialists, and provide solutions to various problems faced by modern and regional society. The courses are held both in the daytime and evening and open for non-student adults in
order to respond to the social need for continuing education.

The purpose of the Faculty of Education is to give education to the

The purpose of the Graduate School of Education is to provide the society, in accordance with its educational development

■特別支援教育特別専攻科 Advanced Program in Special Support Education
特別支援教育の充実に資するため、主として現職教員を対象とし、特別支援教育に関する専門教育を施し、特別支援
学校教諭１種免許状取得の資格を得させ、資質の優れた特別支援教育教員の養成をします。
This program is designed to provide advanced training to current teachers in order to improve the quality of special support education. This course will provide the opportunity for students to obtain the First (Advanced) License in Special
Support Education and train students to be highly talented teachers.
■附属教育実践総合センター Clinical Research Center for Child Development and Educational Practices
学校に通えない、授業に集中できないで騒いでしまうといった児童・生徒の障
害や発達上の悩みを解決するための教育臨床部門、複式学級のカリキュラムをど
う組むか、パソコンの利用や体験学習はどのように行うかといった教育実践部門
の２部門を有し、学生チューターの派遣など学部のみならず地域との連携を積極
的に推進しています。
The Clinical Research Center for Child Development and Educational Practices has
two divisions; the first is the Educational Clinical Division which counsels parents
who are distraught that their children are refusing to go to school or have children
with mental disabilities. It also counsels teachers who struggle with children who misbehave in class. The second is the Educational Practice Division which is concerned with how to use computers in the classroom, how to conduct outdoor experiential education, how to make a curriculum for a multiple grade-level class, and so forth.
The Center, which is affiliated with the Faculty of Education, is not only active within the faculty but also contributes to the
local community by sending students to elementary and junior high schools to work as tutors.

■附属自然観察園 Nature Garden
自然観察園は通称「学芸の森」として学生に親しまれています。
旧制盛岡高等農林学校によって植物園として造成され、その後、管
理が教育学部に移され自然観察園と改称されました。園は市街地に
ある緑豊かな森で、静かな癒しの空間を市民に提供しています。
Originally founded as a botanical garden for the former Morioka
College of Agriculture and Forestry, this garden is now under the management of the Faculty of Education as an affiliated nature-view garden. The garden is abont 42.7ha in totalarea. Commonly called forest
of arts and sciences, it is loved by the citizens and studens as a quiet
healing spot within the urban area.
■附属幼稚園 Kindergarten
学部、附属小・中・特別支援学校との連携のもと、教育目標「心身とも
にたくましく、心豊かな子ども」を目指し、幼児期の特性を踏まえ、遊び

The educational purpose of this kindergarten is to bring up children stout
in body and rich in mind. For this purpose this kindergarten aims to carry
out practice and research through cooperation with other affiliated schools to
the Fculty of Education. The focus of practice and research is on fostering the
basic ability in life through playing.

We are promoting practical study methods that are based on the creative
minds of the children, which is driven by the motto, nurturing people that will

our educational principles but also in the development of our own curriculum
as we are examining the task of education set before us. The school frequently holds educational research conferences and demonstrations classes which
it opens to the public, through such activities it contributes to the continuing
development of primary school education in the Iwate area.

This school was opened as a special education school for mentally handicapped-children in 1974. The school consists of a primary, middle and upper
school. The aim of the school is to provide students with a consistent education from the primary level to the upper level, and its educational objective is
to help students develop the ability to live independently. A student's instruction is based on his or her developmental and educational needs.

Social foundations such as nuclear power plants and super highways become older year by year. Development of the nondestructive evaluation (NDE) techniques for materials degradation is the most urgent and important engineering subject. The
aim of this research center is to establish new NDE techniques for such ageing problems.

This research center consists of “die and mold”, “casting”, and “composite device” divisions. The collaboration between
these three research fields develops new technology. The research results and new developed technology make the regional
industries increase the ability of global competition. The center also gives engineers the recurrent education systems to
improve their expert skills.

地域と大学の連携のもと、金型の設計、加工、表面処理などの要素技術とプレス加工、モールド加工の応用技術の研究開発を通
して、地域の産業振興を図ります。なお、北上市にサテライトを設置しています。
Fundamental research such as design, manufacturing and surface treatment of dies and application research on press
working and molding are carried out in the center with cooperation between university and organizations in Iwate. The
center has a satellite laboratory in Kitakami city.
●鋳造技術研究センター Research Center for Casting Technology
地域と大学との連携のもと、鋳造技術の研究開発を通して、ものづくりにかかわる地域の産業振興を図ります。共
同研究や人材育成、地域のものづくり教育支援、中国や韓国などの大学との技術研究の国際交流拠点づくりを行いま
す。なお、奥州市にサテライトを設置しています。
The Center is planning to promote industry in different regions in Iwate through the research and the development of
casting technology based on cooperation between the various regions in Iwate and our university. The Center collaborates
with both public and private companies, trains staff, supports vocational education for making castings and will promote
international cooperation for technological research with universities in China and South Korea. The Center also has a
satellite laboratory in Oshu City.

ものづくりの基盤であるデバイス分野の研究拠点として、技術教育・研究、地域産業の活性化、人材育成など地域のニーズに対

This center receives regional needs such as technical education, research, how to activate industry in Iwate and fostering talent, as a research stronghold of the field of device. This center has a satellite laboratory in Hanamaki city.
■附属地域防災研究センター Research Center for Regional Disaster Management
岩手県内で起きうる自然災害の発生メカニズムとその地域特性を解明することにより、県の地域防災研究の拠点として、自然災害
の防止・軽減に関する研究を進めています。
This center researches on prevention and reduction of natural disaster, as a
research stronghold of the regional disaster prevention in Iwate, through analyzing
occurrence mechanism of natural disaster and revealing its regional characteristic.
■工作センター Center for Technology Support and Training
工学部の共同利用施設で、学部学生・大学院学生の実験装置製作の指導、機械工学科学
生への工作実習の指導のほか、学術研究のための実験装置製作、工作センターを利用する教
職員への安全指導・技術指導を行っています。
The Center for Technology Support and Training is a cooperative facility of
Engineering. It guides undergraduate and postgraduate students in preparing their
pieces of experimental apparatus and instructs workshop exercises to students of the
Mechanical Engineering Department. It also makes up apparatus for academic
research for the faculty members. In addition, it provides all concerned with safety
and technical guidance.

The Faculty of Agriculture aims at studying and systematizing the technology of stable production of bio-resources including food materials in
cold regions. To achieve these goals, we take multidimensional approaches at levels of genes, individuals and populations to various life processes in plants, microorganisms and animals. Animal medicine is another specialized area in our faculty. In addition, we pursue sustainable agricultural production systems by means of natural and/or social scientific methods to maintain coexistence of environmental preservation and sustainable agriculture by human

The United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences (UGAS) is one of the six united graduate schools in Japan that has inaugurated doctoral
courses for the agricultural sciences. UGAS consists of four universities—Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Hirosaki
University, Yamagata University and Iwate University, all situated in Hokkaido and the Tohoku area in Japan. All the campuses are located in green

獣医学教育を効果的に行うために、伴侶動物

に分かれて診療業務と臨床研究を行っ
ています。診療科は内科、外科、臨床繁殖科の基幹診療科に加えて、エキゾチックアニマル科、生産獣医療科、問題行動
相談室など専門診療科を設け、専任教員と獣医学課程の臨床系の教員とが診
療を担当しています。卒業研究にも利用され、さらには教育病院として地域
の臨床獣医師や海外からの研修獣医師の卒後教育の場としても活用されてい
ます。
The Veterinary Teaching Hospital is the facility in the Faculty for clinical
practices of small and large animals and research works on veterinary medicine. The three basic sections, Internal Medicine, Surgery and
Theriogenology, as well as sections of Exotic Animals, Reproduction
Medicine, Problematic Behavior Counseling and so on are responsible for the
patient animals. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital is widely used for clinical
education both by students and clinical veterinarians in the region, as well as
by veterinary trainees from other countries.
■附属寒冷バイオフロンティア研究センター Cryobiofrontier Research Center
本センターは（１）細胞遺伝応答研究分野、（２）生命適応機能研究分野、（３）寒冷発育制御研究分野、（４）生体
熱制御システム研究分野の４つの研究分野から構成されています。寒冷環境におけるユニークな生命活動を追求すると
ともに、その成果を地域社会に還元しながら、「温度と生命活動」に関す
る教育研究成果を世界に向けて発信することを目的としています。
The Cryobiofrontier Research Center (CRC) was established for the studies
of various biological phenomena occurring under conditions at low temperatures using molecular and cellular biological approaches. We further aim to
create research and educational centers that can lead the world in the
Thermo-Biosystem research field. CRC consists of four research divisions
(Molecular Genetics of Cellular Response and Signaling, Cold-adaptation
Biology, Developmental Control, and Systems Thermobiology), each of which
concentrates on distinct aspects of cryobiology with different approaches.
■附属動物医学食品安全教育研究センター Food Animal Medicine & Food Safety Research Center
東北地方は、過去・現在そして将来においても日本有数の畜産物生産基地です。この恵まれたフイールドを背景とし
て、以下の３点を使命として重点的に取り組みます。

In Japan, the Tohoku region has always been a prominent center for stock farm products and this tradition has continued
into the present. The Center has chosen the following three points for special emphasis.
1. The establishment of comprehensive studies based on an interdisciplinary approach for research into animal foodstuffs.
2. The provision of undergraduate and postgraduate education applied to a wide range of animal foodstuffs.

■附属生物環境制御装置室 Bio-environment Research Center
農学部内の温室のある地域に温度制御可能な人工光植物室、自然光植物室、中動物室、小動物室、恒温室、バイオハ
ザード付自然光植物室が設置されています。コンピュータによる温度制御がされ、実験の目的上、温度制御された環境
下で行う必要のある実験が行われています。
Laboratory for the Biological Experiment under Controlled Temperature is located in the area near the green houses in
Faculty of Agriculture. The laboratory has plant chambers under artificial or natural light, chambers for middle-sized or smallsized animal, rooms in stable temperature, and a plant chamber isolated by bio-hazard under natural light. The temperature is
controlled by computers. The experiments which need to be performed under controlled temperature depending on the objective of the research are conducted in the laboratory.
■附属植物園 Botanical Garden
盛岡高等農林学校時代
（明治３５年）
に設置されました。面積は４９,５００㎡あり、現在１３７科５３０属８００種以上の木本・草本
が生育しています。創立以来１００年を経過し、都市部では貴重な巨木の森が各所に存在しています。また四季を通じ
様々な野鳥や昆虫相が見られる他、野生のニホンリスが代々住みついているなど、都市域の生物共生系モデルとして市
民にも愛されています。
Botanical Garden was established in Morioka high school for agriculture and forestry era(which is the precursor of the
present Iwate University) in 1902.The area is 49,500áuwide. There are 137 families, 530geneus and more than 800 species of
trees and herbs in the Garden. One hundred years are past after the establishment, now we can see the group of huge trees
here and there which is rare in such a city area. Many wild birds and insects can be seen through the seasons and the wild
squirrels also have inhabited for generations, it is treasured by citizens as the symbiosis model of urban lives.
■附属農業教育資料館 Historical Museum for Agricultural Education
盛岡高等農林学校（明治３５年創立）の本館として大正元年に建てられました。この本館は、明治期の木造二階建てヨ
ーロッパ風建物で、１階は校長室・事務室・会議室、２階は大講堂として使用されていました。平成６年には国の重要
文化財に指定されて修復工事が行われ、現在では農業教育資料館として、農業教育研究関係や宮澤賢治在学中の資料な
どを展示公開しています。
The building was constructed in 1912 as one of the main buildings of the College of Agriculture and Forestry, Morioka,
which was established in 1902. It is a two-storied wooden structure and shows the European architectural style of the Meiji
era. The first floor of the building
contained the President's Office,
Administration
Office
and
Conference Room, while the second floor contained a large Hall.
The building was designated as
Important Cultural Asset on 1994
and a large-scale restoration of
the building was performed. The
building is used as the Memorial
Hall for Agricultural Education and
various collections are exhibited

Center for Information and Media consists of "library section", "information

community; it is a place for people to absorb knowledge and to exchange ideas. After the

■情報処理センター Super-Computing and Information Sciences Center
高速計算サーバ、高速コンピュータネットワーク及びスペー
スコラボレーションシステムを用い、学内の様々な情報処理ニ

地域の企業等との共同研究にも積極的に取り組んでいます。
Here at the Center, high-speed computing servers, a high-speed computer
network, and space collaboration are used. The Center is support of various
information processing needs in the University. The roles the Center plays as
the principal player in terms of information in the area also include support for
regional networking and advanced use of information for education and the
local community, and implementation of joint research with local corporations.
■ミュージアム Museum
「キャンパスまるごとミュージアム」として、農学部附属植物園内に
ある本館、農学部附属農業教育資料館、農学部動物の病気標本室、教育
学部附属自然観察園などから構成されており、誰でも自由に大学のキャ
ンパスを散策し、本学の歴史と研究成果に触れることができます。
With a slogan of “Campus is the museum," the museum includes the university
botanical garden affiliated with the Faculty of Agriculture, the original library, the
Historical museum for Agricultural Education, the Museum of Veterinary Medicine, the
nature garden affiliated with the Faculty of Education, etc. Anyone can freely explore our
university campus anytime to learn about our history and academic accomplishments.

Center for Regional Collaboration in Research and Education
岩手大学における教育研究の進展に寄与するとともに、知的財産を産
業界や住民に還元し、地域振興と住民の生涯学習に貢献することを通し
て、知的創造サイクルの確立を目指すことを目的としています。本セン
ターは、これまでの地域共同研究センター、生涯学習教育研究センター、
機器分析センターの３センターに、２００４年４月に整備されたインキュベ
ーション施設と知的財産本部機能を、２００５年４月には地域司法部門を
加え、地域と大学とを一元的に結ぶ窓口として活動しています。
In addition to contributing to the progress in educational research, the center
shares its intellectual property with the local community and local businesses.
We aim to establish a cycle of intellectual creativity through contributing to
local residents’ pursuit of life-long education and community projects. In May of 2004, the Regional Collaboration and Research
Center, the Life-long Education Center and the Center of Instrumental Analysis merged to form the current center. In addition to the
merger, incubation facilities and a new section for intellectual property as well as a section for regional and legal affairs support
were added and the center has since been active as a unifier of the university and local community.

transfers and licenses; and supports incubation enterprises.

に、技術相談や委託分析に対応します。またこれらの業務は、場合に
よっては直接現場に赴いて行う必要があり、更にその場での分析も可
能にするために、いくつかの分析機器を搭載可能にした移動技術相談
車も配備しています。
The center has over 70 types of instruments used for
research and testing, and the Section of Instrumental
Analysis promotes the full use of these machines as well
as collaborative and entrusted research. It also offers
consultations about commissions and the skills necessary to use such instruments. Sometimes the aforementioned services are performed at the site of the inquiring
party when necessary; furthermore, to make this a possibility, a transfer of technology vehicle exists which is
able to carry many of the center’s instruments.

紛争の予防、知的財産権活用のための法的方策及び近年著しく変遷した会社法への対応など、先端的な問題への取
り組みの手助けをします。
This section is designed to help the community solve any legal problems it might face: especially those concerning the rights of intellectual property such as prevention of legal disputes, legal directions for the practical use of intellectual property, and response to corporate law which has recently undergone remarkable changes. In other words, this section strives to solve problems of a new era.
盛岡市産学官連携研究センター（通称 コラボMIU（ミウ））Research and development center by collaboration of Morioka city and Iwate University
ビジネスインキュベーション施設であり、岩手大学の研究シーズを基に起業したベンチャーや共同研究を行う企
業に対して貸し出しをしています。岩手大学は、盛岡市から指定管理者として委託を受け、リエゾン、知財、マー
ケティング等の様々な企業活動の支援を行っています。
This center acts as a business incubator. It offers technical know-how to venture corporations that have been seeded as a result of research at Iwate
University, and to companies that work with the university. The city of Morioka has set Iwate University the task of supervising the Center, commissioning it to
provide support of various kinds to enterprises, such as networking between different fields, intellectual property management, marketing strategy, and so on.

International Center
国際社会の発展に貢献する人材の養成と学術の発展のため、外
国の大学等との研究者交流、地域との国際交流の連携、外国人留
学生の受入、日本人学生の海外派遣等に関する事業を企画し、実
施することを目的としています。
Iwate University aims to cultivate people who can contribute to global
society and academic progress. The International Center was established to initiate plans and management of such projects as scholar and
student exchanges with foreign institutions and facilitation of international exchange programs at the local community.

国際交流を推進するために、国際的な学会活動や学術活動を支援するとともに、
外国の研究機関・企業との共同研究事業・技術移転事業をコーディネートしたり、
国際シンポジウムの開催などを企画・支援します。また、地域社会と外国人留学生
との異文化交流を企画推進します。
In order to promote international exchange, we would like to do following supports. First, we support international congresses and academic activities. Along with foreign academic institution and companies, we intend to form projects for sharing each technique and collaborative
research projects. Also we would like to plan and support international symposiums. In addition, we will plan and promote cross-cultural

Health Administration Center
学生・職員の健康診断とその事後措置、心と体の健康相談や学生生活に
関する様々な相談、学内の環境衛生や伝染病予防などのほか、健康増進に
関するいろいろな活動や調査研究を行っています。
The Health Administration Center provides health examinations and medical
treatment for University students and administrative and academic staff.
Other types of services and research, such as mental and physical consulting,
advice on lifestyle, security of campus hygiene and prevention measures of infectious diseases, are also provided to improve the health of the campus community.
ＲＩ総合実験室
Radioisotope Laboratory
放射性同位元素の利用は、理、医、工、農など多方面の基礎研究のため
の重要な手段であり、医療、発電、生命科学などを通して我々の生活に寄
与しています。RI総合実験室は、放射性同位元素を使用する基礎、応用研
究の進歩を図り、教育効果を高めるために設置されました。ここでは放射
性物質の汚染及び障害を防止するため、万全の措置が講じられています。
Utilization of radioisotopes is an effective method for conducting a broad area of basic
research, such as physical science, medicine, engineering, and agriculture, and is contributing to our quality of life through medical treatment, and production of electric power. The
Radioisotope Laboratory was founded for the development of basic or applied research and
for the encouragement of education employing radioisotopes. This laboratory is furnished
with a system to protect the users from the pollution and harmful effects of radioisotopes.
教員養成機構
Teacher Training Organization
教育学部以外に、人文社会科学部、工学部及び農学部が課程認定を受けている本学では、教員養成の質の保証を図る
ことを目的に、全学的な視点から教員養成の取組みを充実、強化する活動を行っています。本年度から、現職教員を対
象として試行実施される教員免許状更新講習の文部科学省指定を受け、全国的にも注目される多様な講座を開設します。
Aside from Faculty of Education, at Iwate University three other faculties, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty
of Engineering, and Faculty of Agriculture are granted to offer courses leading to a teacher's license. In order to ensure a quality teacher training program, we work at a university level to strengthen the program as a whole. The Ministry of Education,
Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology recently set up a new system for renewing teachers' licenses. Iwate University was
designated as a center for seminars for license renewal, and will provide a variety of courses which nationally draw attention.
