We visited Takahide Farm
at chiba ,Japan. We observed facilities, enjoyed
barbecue and talked with
Mr.Takahashi who is owner
of this farm. We were surprised at measures to raise
productivity like mixed feed
and artificial insemination
and relationship in the area.
This experience produced
productivity group in the
class.
千葉県の高秀牧場にお邪魔した。
施設の見学やバーベキューをし、
高橋さんから貴重なお話を聞いた。
飼料の工夫や人工授精といった予
想以上の生産性を高めるための取
り組み、地域との関わりに驚いた。
生産性班が生まれるきっかけにも

Through the trip in India, I learned so many
things which, I cannot believe, are from just 10
私はこの実習を通じて抱えきれないほどの学びを
得た。その中でも特別な 2 つをあげよう。①人の価
値観は、思っている以上に育った環境や周りの人に
影響され、そしてその価値観を正しいと思い込んで
いること。②私はまだまだ物事を多角的に、そして
さまざまな要素を関連付けて考える訓練が足りない
ということ。
まず一つ目について。人間だれしも、一度きりの
人生「幸せだった」と思いながら最期を迎えること
を願うだろう。私自身その一人だ。インドに行くま
で、『人生＝多くの経験し、多様な知識、知恵、価
値観を身につけ、可能性を広げながら、目標達成し
ていくこと』だと思い込んでいた。それが幸せへの
近道であり、みな同様の考えを持っていると思いこ
んでいた。しかしそれは思い込みにすぎなかった。
インドの村々の人々は、日本人と全然違う。我々か
らしてみると、貧しいことに間違いない。それでも

I could be happy.
However, I learned from India that not all people
think like this. Life in India is so different from Japan
especially in rural village. Looked by people from
developed country, people in small village were
poor economically and empirically. Still, they gave
us perfect smile which I have never seen. I don’t say
these smile meant “happiness” directly, but they
looked happy. Also I have no idea whether these
came from because they didn’t know outside of
their community or people rare like us came. However, if they became having philosophy of life like
mine, they would be in difficulty between the gap
of ambition for future and some obstacles unable to
destroy. If so, I would like to help them so that they
can overcome it. Whether having so many options
for the future is right or not is difficult question because even if you have everything, the person who

い。寧ろ私は幸せだった。先進国の人間としてでな
く、一人間として、多様な可能性を身につけること
は決してマイナスだとは思わない。だからこそ、押
しつけの価値観などでなく、インドの彼らにも可能
性を持つことを素直に喜べる社会にするために何を
するべきか考えていきたい。
二つ目はこのインド経験を経て気づいた自分自身
の課題だ。この実習を通じてインドが抱えるさまざ
まな問題に直面し、真剣に考えた。にもかかわらず
、自国のことになぜか目が向かなかった。程度の差
こそあれ、日本にもインドに通ずる問題はある。理
由はさまざまだが、それらを独立したものとしてし
か捉えられていなかったことに気づかされた。成長
すればするほど、コミュニティの幅が狭くなってい
く中で、身の回りに起きている出来事から目をそら
していたのかもしれない。人から聞いたこと、本で
読んだこと、実体験したこと、たとえその規模が異
なったとしても、それぞれの要素から得たことを関
連づけて考えることを大切にしたい。
最後になったが、この授業に出会えたことは学生
生活の誇りである。社会人目前にして、自分に染み
ついた価値観に気づくことができただけでなく、モ
ノの考え方における自分の課題を知るきっかけにも
なった。この実りしかない経験を支えてくれた関わ
った全ての人にお礼を言いたい。ありがとう。

we have to destroy them. Still, the problems in India
are very complicated because of caste, religion,
and tradition and so on. It may be difficult people
outside find way to solve them because they have
not known real. However, I would like to continue
considering “How can we remove that wall?” and I
know the situation is getting better.
After this trip, I found my weak point when I consider things. I haven’t had treated problems around
me as imminent issues. Nevertheless I faced Indian
problems seriously, I could not reflect what I learned
on problems in my country. If I found linkage between issues of India and those of Japan, I could
make my experiences and learning alive in many
ways. Since I’ve tried to see outside of my country,
somehow I’ve lost eyes to see problems inside of
nation. However, I know we have many kinds of
problems which is similar to India. Therefore, from
now on, I try to make my experience, knowledge
and learning from other people interact and to
open my eyes not to overlook problems.
I guess this may be last report in my student life.
For me, taking this course must be very valuable
because I saw, thought, find so many things. Right
before going into the new world, I could realize that
my sense of value is strongly based on environment
around. Also, this experience was the good start to
rethink how I grasp and connect so many essentials
in my mind and how I should reflect them on my
daily life. I greatly appreciate support by all of people who are related to this course.

Visit to India Burning in my Eyes
実際のところ、私がインドを訪れたのはこの授業
が初めてのことではなかった。以前、個人的な旅行
でインドを訪れたことがあったのである。その時は
完全に観光目的の旅行であったので、観光スポット
のある場所を一通り見て回った。その旅行で、私は
インドという国を面白いとは感じたがそこまでどっ
ぷりと嵌ったわけではなかった。もう自主的には来
ることもないだろうな、とすらぼんやりと思ってい
たくらいだ。
しかし私は、この「インドの農村に滞在する」授
業の存在を知った時、深く考えることもなく申請ボ
タンを押していた。忙しなかった就職活動も終わっ
ていて、自分の進路、将来、人生がなんとなく見え
てきていた時期。就職活動からの解放感が、私にこ
の授業を申請させたのかもしれない。ちょうど、己
の人生について考えざるを得ないような出来事が重
なった時であったことも、私を後押ししていたのか
もしれない。ただ、その時に私が考えていたのは、
ただ「未知の場所に行ってみたい」という気持ち、
それだけだったように思う。今思えば、それはただ
「日本から出たい」というだけだったのかもしれな
い。とにかく、この授業を申請した当初は、私はそ
こまで強い気持ちも決意も持っていなかった。そし
てほぼそのままの心持で、私はインドに飛んだ。
インドで過ごした約 10 日間は、私が想像してい
た以上に強烈な体験になった。あまりカルチャー
ショックのようなものを受けることは無かったが、
多すぎる情報量を毎日与えられて、日本ではほぼ停
止していた私の脳は、簡単にパンクしてしまった。
毎晩行うフィードバックの中で、それでもパンクし
た脳を必死に動かして、皆と様々なことを考えた。

To tell the truth, this trip was not the first visit to India for me. I had visited India as just tourism before.
At that time, I had just done sightseeing some tourism spots. In the past trip, I had been interested in
India. However, I had not gotten more ideas about
India. I had even thought that I would not come to
India again independently at that time.
However, knowing about this class, I pushed the
application button in my college Web page to apply this class. I didn't get a clear reason why I applied this class. Possibly, main reason was the timing.
At our college, we apply to get new class of next
semester during summer vacation. For us senior students, that is a just timing soon after our job-hunting.
At that timing, I have mostly finished my job-hunting,
and I have being able to overlook my rest of life. I
guess that the feeling of freedom from job-hunting
may made me apply this class.　Moreover, I had
some events which made me think about my life.
These events also pushed me to apply this class.
However, what I was thinking at that time is that
I just wanted to go unknown world. I also guess I
have wanted just to go out from Japan. Anyhow,
I didn't have so strong ambition for this program
when I applied that. And then, I went to India with
having such unclear motive.
I spent about ten days in India.
These days were really most amazing experience
than I had imagined. I caught a lot of and powerful
information from seeing, hearing and eating everything in India during these days. My brain got overheated easily. At the feedback meeting of every
night, I tried to understand such information through
discussion with other members. We all tried hard to
understand such lots of information by words of our-

大量に与えられる情報を、何とか自分たちの言葉で
理解しようとした。
インドにいる間中、あらゆる場所で、ひとつひと
つの光景が強烈に私の眼に焼き付いていった。ラク
ダの荷台に揺られてゆっくり進んだ砂道や、畑の手
伝いをしながらナスを投げ合って遊ぶ子供たち、見
たことのない食べ物やお菓子、ミルクを出しに来る
人々、結婚式で踊り狂う若者たち、綺麗に整えられ
たガンジーの墓に、デリーのスモッグがかかった空、
エトセトラ。あまりに多くて書ききることはできな
いが、写真のように鮮明に残っている。
同じように、インドで出会った人たちもまた、私
の中に強烈に残った。多くは、もう私は二度と会う
ことはないだろうと感じるような人たちだ。それで
も彼らひとりひとりとの接触が、こんなにも鮮明に
残っている。日本に帰ってみると、それがとても不
思議なことのように思えた。
私が得た膨大な何かを、上手く言葉にすることは

road going on the camel taxi, children playing with
vegetables in their field while helping farm, many
foods and sweets I have never seen, village people
carrying their milk to dairy, dancing young people
at wedding, and so on. These are too many to write
down here all. I kept such all scenes really vividly.
As the same, people I met in India were also
burned into my memory vividly. For my big sadness,
I never see most of them, but lots of memories with
all of them remain in my heart really vividly. It is really marvelous thing for me.
I can’t find right words to explain about whole
things that I got during this stay in India. Anyway, if
some people wondered whether they should apply
this class or not, I want to encourage them strongly
to try. It is impossible for human to understand everything without their own experience.

せ”なのではないか。私たちの最大の議題である
「幸せ」
について、私が今回のインド滞在で見つけた 1 つの考
え方である。この答えのない人類の永遠の問いをこれ
からの人生を通して考え続けていきたい。
最後に本科目を担当し、私たちのかけがえのない体
験の立役者である秋吉先生、またインドで素晴らしい
時間を共有したチーシャこと本間さんを始めとする

Recently, in India, economic development is remarkable, and India is expected to continue further
development. However, it is said that there is a big
economic gap between in cities and in rural areas.
We were able to stay both cities and rural area
during stay in India. First we visited the village called
Tintoda. When I arrived at the village, I was surprised
at the situation of infrastructures in the village. The
electricity was on the guesthouse we stayed, but we
couldn’t use the hot water in the shower because
of the lack of the gas.
The next day, we conducted the fieldwork at the
village and visited some homes. When we visited
them, they were like temporary houses. In addition,
most of people living in Tintoda don’t have household appliances which Japanese people naturally
have, like TV and refrigerator. Later, we visited some
cities. I saw many tall buildings and high-rise apartment buildings there. It was obvious that there was
gap of life between cities and rural areas in India.
I thought that people who live in rural area should
know know-how about advanced dairy farming
and equip advanced facilities in order to get more
farming income and disposable income. Then, I
conducted the survey about dairy farming in the
village. I had heard that most people in the village
mainly engage dairy farming, but actually men
in the village work out of the village and engage
in other occupations, like the employee of clothe
company and home guard security. On the other
hand, women only engage in mainly dairy farming.
A woman in the village told me that the dairy farming was the job for women, and it was like a custom.
In addition, I asked women about the idea whether

お湯を使うことはできなかった。その翌日村でのフィー
ルドワークで酪農に従事している家庭を何軒か訪問した
時にも、訪問した家がバラック小屋みたいな住居であっ
たことや、冷蔵庫や TV などの日本の家庭にあって当然
の家電を所有している家庭が非常に少ないことには驚か

層ビルや高層マンションが立ち並んでおり、農村との生
活格差は明らかだった。
当初私はこうした格差を是正するためには、農村の
人々が先進国並みの酪農に関するノウハウや設備を整え
ることで酪農収入を増やし、可処分所得を増やすことが
必要だと考えていた。そこでフィールドワークでは主に
酪農に関する調査を行った。ティントーダ村は酪農をメ
インとしている農村と聞いてはいたが、村の男性は町に
出て衣服の工場員、警備員などの職業に従事し、女性が
酪農に 1 人で従事していた。さらに話を聞いていくと牛
の世話は女性の仕事であるということは、昔からの慣習
のようなものであると答えてくれた。続いて酪農収入を
上げるために水牛の飼育頭数を増やす考えがあるかどう
か質問したところ、ほぼ全ての家庭で「飼育の手間がか
かる」という理由で飼育頭数を増やそうとする考えを
もっていなかった。子育てや家事をしつつ多くの水牛の

本大震災後の日本の暮らし方だった。自然は強く、
生きているものは自然の中でしなやかに適応する力
を持っている。人間が作った人工的なものなど、ど
んなに科学技術が進んでもかなわない。自然の恵み
に感謝し、敬意を払って生きている人々に出会い、
人間も地球の一部であることを教えていただいた。
東日本の復興政策、原発問題、防潮堤問題など今私
たちが暮らす国は、自然の恵みや脅威を肌で感じる
機会を奪われ、人工的なものに囲まれ生きている
人々が、地球で生きることの感覚が麻痺した状態で、
考えているのではないだろうか。未来に対して誰も
責任を取らない、気にしない社会であってはならな
いはずなのに、自身に対し激しい憤りを覚えた。
だが、このインド科目の学生達と出会い、自分だ
けの幸せを考えていない彼らの心に、自分に何が出
来るのか悩み苦しむ姿に、大きく救われた。インド
科目をきっかけに、これからも知識と体験から各々
のアイデンティティを形成し、社会をつくる一員と
して自分の意見を発信して行動して欲しいと強く
願っている。
最後になりましたが、彼らを受け入れて、学ばせ
てくださった全ての方に心から感謝申し上げます。

Before the field work, each student learned about
one research topic and shared them to all members.
However, field work in India is very different from
what they learned in Japan. In India, they must have
recognized difficulties of stating their opinions. At
the same time, however, this field work gave them
a chance to reconsider about the meaning of one’s
happiness, or think about how they face to the society by now.
What is more, they could have an ability to combine experiences with their opinions. Students went
through experiences like this; visiting poor villages
where people live with dogs and cows in nature, and
watching a modernized city which has skyscrapers
and changes dramatically. By seeing huge gap like
this, they must have an opportunity to explore their
views, and those experiences made them grow up.
While I was in India, what I continued to consider
was the way of living in Japan after the Great East Japan Earthquake. Nature has strength, and a living being have flexibility in the nature. Even though the scientific technics advance in the future, artificial things
which created by human being will never overcome
the force. From people who appreciate and respect
for nature blessing, I learned that human beings are
also part of the mother earth. However, in my opinion,
Japanese society deprives of a lot of chances to feel
the nature values and threats. I doubt that people
who have never known nature proceed to Japanese
policies right now. The problems such as earthquake
disaster reconstruction, nuclear issues, and breakwater problems would never be solved if feelings for nature are paralyzed. The society where no one would
take responsible for the future should not be formed.
When I noticed those situations, I was choked with
rage.
However, I was saved by my students in many
ways. Since they were always think about others’
happiness. Also, they were always struggling with the
difficulties of social problems because they have a
will of solving them. I strongly hope them to be a person who can form their identity from their knowledge
and experiences. I also hope that my students will
express their opinions, and make an action for worldwide problems as a member of society.
Lastly, I genuinely appreciate all people who accept my students and help them to learn. Thank you
so much.

酪農協同組合　Dairy Cooperative
グジャラート州の牛乳の生産パフォーマンスと品質の向上を目的としている組織。村、県、州の 3 つのレ
ベルに分けられている。村レベルでは牛乳の集荷などの仕事を、県レベルで牛乳の加工、州レベルで加工
品の宣伝や販売を行う。
Dairy cooperative is the organization which aims to improve the performance and quality of milk
production in Gujarat. It has 3 stages; 1st stage is village level. They gather milk. 2nd stage is country level, they process milk. 3rd stage is state level, they advertise and sell processed goods
村の学校 School in village
インドで教育は中央政府と州政府が共同で実施することとなっている。基本的には小学校が 5 年、中学
校が 3 年、中等学校が 2 年、高等学校が 2 年となっており、
義務教育期間は小学校と中学校の 8 年間である。
村の学校では生徒数が多く、全ての生徒を教室に収容することができない。そのため学校では午前と午後
で生徒が入れ替わる。また、給食は地べたで食べ、お皿は自分たちで洗う。
In India, central government and state government conduct education together. Generally, elementary school has 5 years. Junior high school has 3 years. Secondary school has 2 years. High
school has 2 years. The period of compulsory education has 8 years during elementary school
and junior high school. In the village, there were so many students that school building cannot
accommodate all students. Therefore, students in the school take over the class at noon. Students
have school meal on the ground and they wash their own dishes.
村の診療所 Clinic in a village
診療所は主に軽症の病気のための医療機関である。政府の政策により、薬代は無料であり、診療費も格安
である。貧しい人でも医療サービスを受けることができるようになっている。ただし、重症の患者は隣町
の病院に搬送されることもある。
The clinic is a medical institution for patients who have an unserious illness. By the policy of government, patients can get medicine for free and the price of examination is very low .So poor
people can receive medical services. Patients who have serious illness are carried to hospital of
next town.
ソナラダ村　Sonarada village
ソナラダ村は NGO の支援により女性酪農組合が組織されたことで有名な村である。協同組合には女性の
書記も存在している。また、最初に訪れたティントーダ村とは異なり多様なカーストの人々が住んでいた。
Sonarada village is famous for having organized the dairy cooperative that women also can participate in by the support of NGO. There are female chair person in the dairy cooperative. This village is different from Tintoda village in that there are various castes.

ガンジーアシュラム　Gandhi Ashram
ガンジーがイギリス留学後に暮らしていた家。その横には博物館がある。ガンジーが暮らしていた住居
はとても質素なものであり、彼が使用していた糸を紡ぐ車や台所が展示されている。博物館にはガンジー
の写真や絵、生涯の記録などが展示されている。博物館の中には売店があり、そこであらゆるガンジー
グッツを購入することができる。ガンジーがいかにグジャラートの人にとって偉大な存在であるかを実
感することができた。
Gandhi Ashram is the house which he lived in after his studying abroad in UK. There is a museum
near the house. The house he lived in is very simple. In his house, spinning wheel he used and
kitchen is exhibited. In the museum, pictures and photos of Gandhi and the record of his life are
exhibited, too. There is the shop in the museum and we can buy many kinds of Gandhi goods.
We realized how great person he is for people in Gujarat.

農村経営における人材育成のために 1979 年に設立された大学。インド政府やグジャラート州、スイス
開発援助局らの支援により設立された。経済、財務会計、IT などの各学部がある。インド国内における
農村経営のエリートがこの学校に集まる。この学校の卒業生の多くは政府系の企業や NGO に就職をす
る。大学には学生のための寮も併設されている。
IRMA is the university that was established for cultivation of rural management in 1979. It was
established by supports of Indian government, Gujarat government and Swiss Agency of Development and Cooperation. There are some faculities ; economics, management accounting, IT
and so on. Elites of rural management gather in the university. Many graduates of the collage
work at governmental factories or NGOs. Dormitories for students are attached in the collage.

ク生産では、村落での酪農協同組合において生産者が持ちよったミルクを収集し、それを県のミルク生
産者協同組合に販売する。少量のミルクでも買い取ってもらえるため小規模経営の酪農家でも安定した
収益を得ることができる。乳牛や水牛のミルクの生産性を高めるためのサービスを提供も行っている。
また開発庁の近くには研究所が併設されている。
In 1965, NDDB was established for expanding milk production way called Anand Way. In this
way, dairy cooperatives in villages collect milk which producers of milk bring, and they sell milk
to District Cooperative Milk Producer’s Union. Anand way stabilize milk producer’s income even
they are small producers. NDDB provides servicers in order to improve milk productions of cows
and buffaloes. In addition, institution of NDDB is attached near the building of NDDB.
アムールの工場 Factory of Amul
村の酪農協同組合で集められたミルクは、最終的にアムールの工場に集められる。1 日に約 50 万リッ
トルもの牛乳がここに集められる。
「アムール」とはサンスクリット語で ”priceless”,” precious”　を
意味している。この工場ではバター、チーズなどに加工される。工場は見学ができる。工場では生産管
理のために最新鋭の設備が整っていた。また、アナンド方式の普及に貢献したクーリエンの博物館も併
設されていた。
The milk gathered in village cooperatives are finally gathered at Amul factory. The amount of
milk gathered in the factory is about 500000 liters per a day. The meaning of “Amul” is ”priceless” and ” precious”　in Sanskrit. In the factory, milk is processed to butter, cheese and other
processed goods and a state-of –the art equipments for production management are all attached in the factory. People can visit the factory. Near the factory, the museum of Kurien, who
contributed to spread of Anand Way ,is attached.

性駐在員の方から聞くことができた。インドにおける開発の難しさを知ることができた。
JICA’s office in India is in the modern office building. We heard about the activity of JICA in India
from 3 women resident representatives. We can understand difficulties of development in India.

スの斡旋から内装工事まで手掛ける。また、日本企業のインド駐在員の住居の斡旋やレンタカー、イミグ

NRM International is the company of real estate consulting for Japanese companies that enter India. They give their clients the information about offices in India and even conduct interior decoration of offices. In addition, they also give them the information about residence and rent-a car
in India. They have many Japanese famous companies as their clients.
レッドフォート The Red Fort
ムガル帝国皇帝のシャー・ジャハーンがアグラから遷都した際に自らの居城として築城した。1648 年に
完成した。城壁は赤砂岩でつくられており、この城の名前の由来となっている。
The Red Fort is the castle which Shah Jahan, a Mugal emperor was built as his own castle in 1648.
The fort of castle is made of red sandstone. That is why the castle is called “The Red Fort”.
ガンジーの墓 Grave of Gandhi
1948 年にヒンズー至上主義者によって暗殺されたガンジーの眠る場所。今でも、多くの人がここに足を
運んでいる。
It is the grave of Gandhi, who was killed by an enthusiastic Hindu in 1948.Many people visit there.

Cultural findings in India!!
一番の衝撃はトイレ。途上国に行ったことがなかったからトイレ事情を知らなく
て、初めて行ったときはしばらく無言になった。村のトイレとお風呂には唖然。日
本ではぼっとんはもちろん和式すら入れなかったのでとてもいい経験になった。

I can't forget the "smells" of
