Call for participation to IS-NMR-ILC 001_2014 – September 8th, 2014
1. AIMS OF THIS INTERLABORATORY COMPARISON
Validation of a fingerprinting NMR method for classification of wheat and flours.
Selection of laboratories to build up an international network for analysis of wheat and flours by the
validated NMR method.
2. ANALYTICAL MATERIAL DESCRIPTION
NMR tubes provided to participants: 5.
Aqueous extracts of flour and wheat samples will be contained in 4 NMR tubes. In particular, these
tubes will contain buffered aqueous extracts of flour (or wheat), sodium azide as biocide and 3(trimethylsilyl)-2,2,3,3-tetradeuteropropanoic acid sodium salt in D2O as internal reference.
Deuterated methanol will be contained in 1 NMR tube.
3. SOLUTION NMR EXPERIMENT
1D NOESY experiment using presaturation will be run for NMR tube containing flour and wheat
samples.
A 90° single pulse experiment will be run for NMR tube containing CD3OD.
Acquisition and processing parameters will be detailed in “Instructions and contract terms” available
in the NMR Spectrometer Profile (see IS-NMR-ILC Scheme).
4. COSTS
Innovative Solutions S.r.l. funds this ILC.
Participation is free of charge for all participants (sample delivery is included only for EU
participants. Sample delivery costs for participants outside EU will be quoted after participation
request).
Electronic version of the report is free of charge for all participants.
Hard-copy of the report is quoted at € 15,00 (shipping costs will be quoted after order).
5. REGISTRATION
Participant having the NMR Spectrometer Profile asks for participation by email to
[email protected] indicating “Participation to IS-NMR-ILC 001_2014” as subject.
In order to generate a NMR Spectrometer Profile, follow instructions in IS-NMR-ILC Scheme.

9. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE PARTICIPANTS
Participant must follow instructions contained in the “Instructions and contract terms” available in
the NMR spectrometer profile. If instruction will not be complied, data will not be considered for
final elaboration. Participant (only those who have complied with the instructions) will be cited in the
final report and in any kind of publication containing his NMR data.
Innovative Solutions is the owner of the NMR data of the present ILC. NMR data will be not
distributed to participants neither entirely nor partly.
Minimum number of participants: 10.
Maximum number of participants: 40.
9. TIMETABLE
2014/09/08 – 2014/10/31: Call open and registration (See IS-NMR-ILC Scheme for registration
form)
2014/11/01 – 2015/01/15: Recognition of the spectrometers available for the ILC and publication of
the “Instructions and contract terms”, sample preparation, homogeneity and stability control
2015/01/15 – 2015/01/31: Sample delivery
2015/02/01 – 2015/02/28: NMR experiment registration and data submission
2015/03/01 – 2015/04/30: Data elaboration and publication of the report.
10. SUBCONTRACTS
Samples preparation and delivery are subcontracted to qualified supplier.
