Silvio Gualdi is Senior Scientist at the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) and
at the Centro Euro-Mediterraneo per I Cambiamenti Climatici (CMCC), where he leads the
“Climate Simulations and Predictions” Division. He holds a degree in Physics from the University
of Modena (Italy) and a PhD in Geophysics from the University of Hamburg (Germany) and has
more than 15 years of experience in climate modelling and simulations.
He is Member of the International Scientific Steering Committee of HyMex (Hydrological Cycle in
the Mediterranean Experiment), member of the MedCLIVAR Programme. Along with other
colleagues, he has received the Norbert Gerbier-MUMM International Award for 2006. Since
February 2008 he is convener of the AW4 Session (”Large scale air-sea interaction processes and
their influence on the Euro-Mediterranean climate) at the Annual Meeting of the European
Meteorological Society (EMS).
Since 2007, he is teacher of “Climate Dynamics” for the “Science and Management of the Climate
Change” Doctorate Programme of the Cà Foscari University of Venice and he has been co-tutor of
several PhD and Degree thesis at the University of Bologna. He is author of more than 60 peerreviewed publications on international scientific journals.
