Description of the organization:
Interregional Voluntary Organization “SVIT-Ukraine” is a non-profit public
organization, its main aim is promotion and development of volunteer
movement in Ukraine. Main activity is organization of international volunteer
projects, aimed to solve specific local problems, as well as Intercultural
communication.
IVO “SVIT-Ukraine” is cooperating with international network of voluntary
service organizations Service Civil International (SCI) in realization of
international volunteer and youth projects in Ukraine, with participation of
international volunteers, and also provides possibilities for Ukrainian young
people to take part to international exchanges and projects, which are taking
place in other countries.
Project description:
The goal of the project is to promote volunteering and youth activism, provide
possibilities for young people to be involved in volunteer activities, and
improve cooperation and networking among NGOs and other institutions in
sphere of volunteering. The activities are realized jointly by the volunteers and
activists of SVIT, Volunteer club, and local partners.
Volunteer tasks will include:

collecting applications of volunteers applying to participate in workcamps
organized by SVIT-Ukraine, providing them with necessary information
about the projects
•
promotion of volunteering and volunteer opportunities on-line using
social media and blog, conducting presentations about volunteering for
young people
•
assistance in preparation and realization of workcamps, seminars,
trainings, youth exchanges, local volunteer events and actions, meeting
with local volunteers, project partners and campleaders
•
preparing and running educational activities on the different topics
depending on the interest of the volunteer with schoolchildren
•
work on personal small-scale project or activity.
The project provides diverse and balanced activities, as well as space for own
input and initiative. Part of the work will be done in the office of SVIT, where
volunteers will be able to use internet, make research for information and
materials for activities, have meetings with local volunteers, prepare actions
etc. Part of the work will take place outside of the office, with local partner
organizations and institutions in Kharkiv and with club of volunteers. Volunteers
will be actively involved in preparation and realization of the project activities,
from planning stage to implementation and evaluation; they will work both
individually and as part of a team.
Practicalities:
Regular working hours are 35 hours per week but some overtime may be
necessary (free time will be given in lieu). It is necessary to be ready to work
sometimes on weekends (workcamps, seminars etc.)
Volunteers will have two days of vacation per month (can be accumulated).
Volunteers will have opportunity to learn local language. Lessons of Russian
language could be organized in framework of private lessons with teacher
during half period of the project.
Volunteer will stay in the separate room in apartment shared with other EVS
volunteers. Accommodation will be organized in safe neighborhood with good
transport connection to the city center.
Monthly food and transport money will be given according to local prices and
location of the volunteers. Pocket money – 80 Euro.
The volunteers will be insured through AXA, group plan for EVS volunteers. 90%
of travel costs and 100% of visa expenses will be covered.
Volunteer profile:
The volunteers should be interested in following topics – volunteering, work of
NGOs, PR, social media. The volunteers should have fun by working in an
international and intercultural environment and be ready to bring in their own
experience and skills. Language skills in English are a must and skills in Russian
would help in day by day communication. Age limit: 20-30.
