TOURIST TAX
As of February 1st, 2014 the Monza City Council started levying a Tourist Tax on tourists and visitors.
The amount ranges from € 0.50 to € 2.00 per night, according to the type, class and number of the
accommodation facilities involved, as per the City Council resolution dated Genuary 9th, 2014.
The accommodation facility must either issue a separate receipt or report the amount paid for the
Tourist Tax on the invoice.
The cases of exemption as laid down in article 6 of the City Council Tourist Tax Regulation are:
□ persons up to 18 years of age;
□ all those who are undergoing rehabilitative therapies at health facilities within the municipal
boundaries;
□ persons who care for patients in hospital of the municipality, on the basis of an escort for each
patient;
□ all those (including both parents) who are assisting patients under 18 years of age admitted to
health facilities within the municipal boundaries, (two accompanying persons allowed per
patient);
□ personnel belonging to the State and Local Police, to other Armed Forces, as well as the
national body of the Fire Brigade and Civil Defence staying for service needs;
□ professional tour guides;
□ tour leaders who provide assistance to organized groups, to travel agencies and tourists
(applicable to all drivers and one guide for 25 tourists);
□ disabled persons and their caretakers;
□ students regularly enrolled in the University who attend classes in the Campus located in
Monza.
The Tourist Tax monies will be fully allocated to fund activities tied to tourism.
