MODIGLIANI
Amedeo Modigliani (Livorno 1884-Paris 1920) completed his
female portraits characterized by stylized faces and tapered necks
in one or two sessions, without retouching. The conception of his
painting based on linear design, the purity of its archaic sculpture
and romantic and troubled life of poverty and illness make him an
outstanding personality in the context of modern art. Modigliani is
today considered one of the greatest artists of the XX century and
his works are exhibited in major museums around the world.

RAFFAELLO SANZIO,
ADONNA OF DIVINE LOVE
The “Madonna of Divine Love” is an oil painting on canvas by
Raffaello Sanzio (1483-1520), one of the most famous painters
of the Italian Renaissance: preserved in the National Museum of
Capodimonte in Napoli, it is exposed for the first time in Torino.
During the Second World War, the superintendent of Napoli did
everything to save the art works of the city from German raids,
but some masterpieces, including precisely the “Madonna of
Divine Love”, however, fell into their hands: in 1947, thanks to a
diplomatic action, returned to Italia.

The theme of the fourth edition is “Passages”. Passages that can act
as a link between two places separated by a border, a wall or any
other barrier, whether physical, mental or virtual, but which can also
bring about changes in direction, thresholds beyond which the world
and our perception of it can change, as happens with the stages in
life of individuals or with historical periods. As part of “Torino meets
