Dit is de eerste nieuwsbrief van PIP Animal en OneHealth. Voortaan brengen wij ieder
kwartaal een nieuwsbrief uit over de ontwikkelingen in en de toepassing van probiotische
reinigingsproducten (het PIP concept) voor de dierhouderij.
This is the first newsletter from PIP Animal and OneHealth. Every quarter we bring out this
newsletter about developments in and application of probiotic cleaning products (the PIP
concept) on farms with all kinds of animals.

PIP Concept
Ons hoofddoel is om bedrijven met landbouwhuisdieren gezondheidtechnisch beter te
laten draaien met respect voor dieren, mensen en omgeving. We gebruiken een nieuwe
manier om gezondheid te managen! We stoppen met het doden van bacteriën door
antibiotica en desinfectiemiddelen, omdat dit te veel resistentie ontwikkelt tegen deze
middelen. Wij gaan pathogene bacteriën controleren door goede bacteriën gericht in te
zetten via onze probiotische reinigingsmiddelen. We ontwikkelde een concept voor de
toepassing van de probiotische producten in verschillende landbouwbedrijven op een
duurzame wijze. Hierdoor ontstaat een duurzame gezondheid op deze bedrijven en
uiteindelijk ook voor de volksgezondheid.

Probiotics: the new way
Our main goal is managing health on farms with all kinds of animals with respect for
human, animal and environment. We use a complete new way of managing health! We stop
killing bacteria with antibiotics and chemical disinfectants because it creates too much
resistance against these products. We start controlling pathogenic bacteria to find a new
balance, by using probiotic cleaning products. We have developed a new concept how to
use the probiotic cleaning products in the different farms in a consistent way. Thus creating
a sustainable health on these farms and therefore in the end also for humans.
PIP vermindert antibioticagebruik / PIP reduces use of antibiotics
In 2013 is het antibiotica gebruik in de dierhouderij in Denemarken gestegen t.o.v. 2012, zo
blijkt uit een artikel in Pig business. De eerste varkensbedrijven in Denemarken zijn
inmiddels gestart met ons PIP concept om het antibiotica gebruik te verlagen.

Danish farms started
In 2013 there has been an 4% increase in the use of antibiotics in farms in Denmark
compared to 2012, according to DANMAP. The first pig farms in Denmark have started with
the PIP products and our PIP concept to reduce the use of antibiotics substantially.
Resultaten PIP bewezen / Results PIP proven
Probiotische reinigingsmiddelen worden ook toegepast in de humane healthcare sector. Zo
hebben een 3-tal ziekenhuizen in Italië en België meegedaan aan een onderzoek om de
werking van probiotische reinigingsmiddelen, wetenschappelijk te onderbouwen. Er wordt
een reductie van 50-89% van ongewenste pathogenen aangetoond. De verwachting is dat
dit leidt tot een vermindering van ziekenhuisinfecties. Het effect van de probiotische
reinigingsmiddelen in dit onderzoek is vergelijkbaar met de effecten in de dierhouderij. Zie

Scientific proven
Probiotic cleaning products are also being used in the human health sector. Three hospitals
in Italy and Belgium performed a scientific study which showed a reduction of pathogens of
50-89%. This study has been published recently in Plos One. The expectation is that this will
lead to a reduction of Healthcare Associated Infections. The effect of the probiotic cleaning
products in this study are comparable with the effects in farms. See for more information

Micropia Museum
Wij bezochten onlangs het eerste microbiologische museum ter wereld: Micropia te
Amsterdam, naast Artis . Ook de werking van probiotica krijgt daar aandacht. Leuk om met
collega’s, bedrijven of familie naar toe te gaan en de werking van bacteriën te ontdekken.
Wij ontmoette daar museumdirecteur Eveline Hensel tijdens de opening van het museum.
Opening Museum Micropia
Recently we visited the first microbiologic museum in the world: Micropia in Amsterdam the
Netherlands, near Artis Zoo. They also show the effect of probiotics. It is nice to visit the
museum with colleagues, friends or family to discover how bacteria work. We met
museumdirector Eveline Hensel during the opening of the museum.
