26 Joint Doctoral Seminar in Theory and History of Architecture
November 26, 2014
University of Antwerp, Faculty of Design Sciences
Campus Mutsaard, Mutsaardstraat 31, Antwerp, Belgium
Twice a year, the research groups in Theory and History of Architecture of the
universities of KU Leuven, UGhent, UCL, ULB, ULg, UMons, UAntwerpen and UHasselt
organize a joint doctoral seminar. Its aim is to create a forum where the doctoral
students of the partner institutions can present their ongoing research and get
feedback from staff, invited specialists and peers.
In the course of this one-day seminar, there are usually three different kinds of
presentations:
• Short presentations for starters in the form of a ‘poster session’. Apart from putting
a poster on display, candidates are invited to make a brief plenary statement (5’)
about their research project. Candidates for this session must state the approval
of their promoter when submitting their intention to participate.
• Presentations (20’ talk + 20’ feedback) of a case-study or a completed thesis chapter,
preferably ready for publication. Candidates for this session must submit an
abstract (300 words) in English or French.
• Full presentations of (almost completed) doctoral research, by invitation only.
All abstracts will be reviewed by a seminar committee, consisting of senior researchers
from the organizing institutions.
Please bear in mind the following deadlines:
• Submission poster drafts & abstracts: 15 September 2014
• Notification of acceptance (papers & posters): 1 October 2014
• Submission of posters and full papers: 16 November 2014
(.pdf format, A4 portrait, 10Mb max.)
All documents should be submitted to Els De vos
([email protected]).
Please remember to mention ‘abstract JDS 26 [your surname and affiliation]’ or
‘poster JDS 26 [your surname and affiliation]’.
