|PT-BR| Esta exposição mostra o trabalho de um artista que pensa em pontes.
Considerando que tanto o seu trabalho e seu corpo acabam de atravessar as
fronteiras do Brasil pela primeira vez, Jeims Duarte decidiu abordar o destino de sua
viagem, tida como uma figura de alteridade, através do poder simbólico conjuntivo
das pontes. Na mitologia nórdica, "Bifröst" é uma ponte de arco-íris de fogo, que
atinge entre Midgard (o mundo) e Asgard (o reino dos deuses).
A peça central da Bifröst é, sobretudo, uma ponte de Bruxelas, descoberta e
escolhida pelo artista in loco, sem nenhuma referência anterior. Se o Bifröst mítico
deve unir o Céu e a Terra, a Bifröst de Duarte simplesmente deveria convidar a
criação de um campo comum, onde os olhos dele podem encontrar os seus sem
nenhuma pretensão de conexão total. Qualquer tipo de troca será suficiente, até
mesmo um simples sorriso com os olhos em silêncio.
O conjunto das obras é uma constelação de sínteses, mais ou menos contraditórias,
mais ou menos em oposição. Eles são sínteses entre a ficção da identidade e a
ficção da alteridade; entre o ser humano e o ambiente urbano humano; entre
homem e mulher; homem e homem; mulher e mulher; velho e novo; a vida e a
morte; monumento e ruína; Recife e Bruxelas; arte e tudo o que a inspira e expira.
|EN| This exhibition shows the work of an artist who thinks of bridges. Considering
that both his work and his body have now crossed the boundaries of Brazil for the
very first time, Jeims Duarte has decided to address his journey’s destiny, taken as a
figure of otherness, through the symbolic connective power of bridges. In the
Nordic mythology, "Bifröst" is a burning rainbow bridge that reaches between
Midgard (the world) and Asgard (the realm of the gods).
The central piece of Bifröst is, notably, a bridge from Brussels, discovered and chosen
by the artist in loco, with no previous reference. If the mythical Bifröst is supposed to
unite Heaven and Earth, Duarte’s Bifröst is simply supposed to invite the creation of a
common field, where his eyes can meet yours with no pretension of total
connection. Any kind of exchange will do, even a mere smile with silent eyes.
The ensemble of works is a constellation of syntheses, more or less conflicting, more or
less in opposition. They are syntheses between the fiction of identity and the fiction of
alterity; between the human being and the human urban environment; between
man and woman; man and man; woman and woman; old and new; life and death;
monument and ruin; Recife and Brussels; art and anything that inspires and expires it.

|FR| Cette exposition montre le travail d'un artiste qui pense aux ponts. Considérant
qu’à la fois son travail et son corps ont franchi les frontières du Brésil pour la première
fois, Jeims Duarte a décidé d'adresser le destin de son voyage, considéré comme
une figure de l'altérité, par la puissance connective symbolique des ponts. Dans la
mythologie nordique, "Bifröst" est un pont en arc en ciel brûlant qui atteint entre
Midgard (le monde) et Asgard (le royaume des dieux).
La pièce centrale de Bifröst est, notamment, un pont de Bruxelles, découvert et
choisi par l'artiste in loco, sans référence précédente. Si le Bifröst mythique est censé
unir le ciel et la terre, le Bifröst de Duarte est simplement censé inviter à la création
d'un champ commun, où ses yeux peuvent rencontrer les vôtres avec aucune
prétention de connexion totale. Tout type d'échange suffira, même un simple sourire
avec les yeux silencieux.
L'ensemble des œuvres est une constellation de synthèses, plus ou moins
contradictoires, plus ou moins dans l'opposition. Ils sont des synthèses entre la fiction
de l'identité et la fiction de l'altérité; entre l'être humain et l'environnement urbain
humain; entre l'homme et la femme; l'homme et l'homme; la femme et la femme;

|NL| Deze expo toont het werk van een artiest die nadenkt over bruggen. Zijn werk
en zijn lichaam hebben nu voor het eerst de grenzen van Brazilië overgestoken. Dat
heeft Jeims Duarte doen besluiten om zijn reisbestemming, een gegeven van
andersheid, aan te kaarten door de symbolische verbindingskracht van bruggen. In
de Noorse mythologie is “Bifröst” een brandende regenboogbrug die zich strekt
tussen Midgard (de wereld) en Asgard (het godenrijk).
Het centrale werk van Bifröst is, juist daarom, een brug van Brussel, ontdekt en
uitgekozen door de artiest in loco, zonder voorgaande referentie. Als de mythische
Bifröst verondersteld werd Hemel en Aarde te verenigen, dan wordt Duarte’s Bifröst
enkel geacht uit te nodigen tot de creatie van een gemeenschappelijk
gezichtsveld, waar zijn en jouw ogen elkaar kunnen ontmoeten zonder per se een
volledige connectie te hebben. Elk soort van uitwisseling is genoeg, zelfs even een
glimlach met stille ogen.
Het geheel van werken is een ruim overzicht van syntheses, min of meer
conflicterend, min of meer elkaars tegengestelde. Ze zijn syntheses tussen de fictie
van identiteit en de fictie van andersheid; tussen de mens en de menselijk urbane
omgeving; tussen man en vrouw; man en man; vrouw en vrouw; oud en nieuw;
leven en dood; monument en ruïne; Recife en Brussel; kunst en alles dat het inspireert
en doet vervallen.
