For cultivation we are dependant of external producers. However we implemented some quality demands to which the spring carrots have to respond. Our suppliers have to deliver products that satisfy these demands. Control concerning the quality of the delivered spring carrots is performed in accordance with following product specifications. 1. Used raw materials and additives Spring carrots: origin: Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain (during winter) Primary packaging materials (Procedure 10 and 11) Our products don’t contain any allergens or genetically manipulated organisms. 3. General product specifications The product is delivered washed and packed in crates. Regardless of the quality class valid for the product, the following minimal demands are in order for the product: - Excellent quality - Fresh and firm foliage - Fine formed and fully-grown carrots - Thoroughly washed - Straight and intact carrots - Free of insects - Free of cracks and not split - Typical colour of the variety, both for the carrot and foliage - Free of green, purple or violet colour on the top part of the carrots - Uniformly sorted spring carrots with carrots of the same length and calibre (min 10 and max 25 mm) - Free of frost damage - No residues above the tolerated norm pagina 1 van 3 De Kimpe-Cool N.V. The following microbiological demands are in force: - Salmonella: 0 cfu (colony forming units) / 25 g product - Listeria monocytogenes: 0 cfu / 25 g product - Staphylococcus aureus: < 10.000 cfu / g product - Bacillus cereus: < 10.000 cfu / g product - Clostridium perfringens: < 10.000 cfu / g product - Escherichia Coli: < 100 cfu / g product Comply to the legislation concerning heavy metals. For carrots the following maximal values are in place: - lead: maximal value 0.1 mg/kg product - cadmium: maximal value 0.1 mg/kg product 5. Specific demands Calibre 10-25 mm 6.
