Barrel pump - electric drive
EFP-1 or EFPM-2
The electric barrel pump
EFP-1 and EFPM-2 are
driven by a flanged D.C.
motor (EFP-1) or a three
phase A.C. motor (EFPM2). An eccentric, which is
installed in the housing,
changes the rotation of
the motor, into a stroke
movement of the piston
rod. The delivery piston in
the pump is bolted with
the piston rod, whereby a
suction and pressure
stroke is carried out
compulsory. The lubricant
is delivered through the
delivery pipe to the
pressure connection
which is equipped with a
coupling, via the nonreturn valve which
prevents a reprime.

The stability of the electric barrel pump is guaranteed
by three connecting rods with star handles, which in
turn have to be connected with the ground. The
falling level of the barrel is monitored via a grease
level monitoring. A magnetic safed plate with
proximity switch is fastened on the follower piston.
When the level in the barrel falls, also the follower
pistons falls, whereby the proximity switch is lifted by
means of two approx. 3 cm long chains over the
suction drill of the grease follower piston. The
proximity switch sends a signal for the barrel
exchange.
The pressure limiting valve at the pressure
connection protects the system from ouverload and
is preadjusted to 280 bar.
Use
Used as progressive- or dual-line pumps in machine
groups of industrial machinery as well as in mediumsized or big building machines.

The hydraulic barrel pump HFP-3U is driven with
hydraulic oil (68 mm²/s, max. 5 l/min).

The stroke movements of the piston rod are
controlled by the hydraulic changeover (suction and
pressure stroke = up and down stroke). The grease
is primed via the drilling at the pump pipe. The valve
disk with sealing prevents that the primed grease is
pressed back into the barrel. The non-return valve
prevents a repriming of the lubricant and the grease
is supplied through the supply pipe to the pressure
connection.
The per default installed pressure limiting valve
protects the system from overload.
The stability of the hydraulic barrel pump is
guaranteed by three connecting rods with star
handles, which have to be connected with the
ground.
Attention: A return line connection (special model) is
installed at the pump cover for types with dual line
systems. This return line connection is for the back
supply of the relief volume into the barrel where the
quantity comes out below the suction drilling of the
supply pipe.

A valve plate with sealing prevents that
sucked lubricant is pressed back into the
barrel via the suction drilling. The nonreturn valve avoids that lubricant is sucked
back and lubricant is forwarded trough the
supply pipe to the pressure outlet.

The integrated change over valve in the barrel pump
pressurizes the top side and the underside of the
drive piston. The actuation of the change over valve
is done by a 2/2 way valve (pilot valve) that are
actuated mechanical by the drive piston in its end
positions. The stroke movements of the drive piston
and the piston rod in the supply pipe controls the
suction and pressure stroke (=double stroke).
Lubricant is sucked via the suction drilling at the
supply pipe.
The stability of the barrel pump is ensured via three
connecting rods with star handles that are fix
connected with the ground.
Attention: Versions for dual line systems have a
return connection at the pump cover. This return
connection enables the relieved lubricant to flow
back into the barrel where the volume comes out of
the suction drilling of the supply pipe.

Description
Lubrication pinion
The segmented lubrication pinion consists of
alternating laminated shims made of plastic. Hence
the number of outlets is increased and a very
variable grading of gear heights is reached.
In order to optimize lubrication, designs with
integrated proximity switches are used to adjust the
number of lubrication cycles via the number of
revolutions.
Function
Lubricant is delivered via a grease pump into the
center drilling of the pinions shaft. The drilling must
exactly be orientated towards the center of the
lubricated gear so that lubricant always comes out of
the tooth flank during the meshing.
Lubricant flows from the center drilling of the shaft
through the channel of the lubricant outlet of the
pinion and is evenly applied on the flank of the gear.

Function
Lubrication pinion
The lubricant is delivered by a grease pump to the
central hole of the lubrication pinion’s shaft.
The hole has to be orientated exactly to the center of
the to be lubricated wheel, so that lubricant always
comes out of the tooth profile in meshing condition.
The grease outlets at every tooth of the lubrication
pinion are always drilled under another angle, in
order that lubricant is distributed constantly onto the
tooth profile of the wheel which has to be lubricated.

PU-lubrication pinion for gearings
Description
The lubrication pinions are mounted and delivered
on a slide bearing bush, which can be installed on
rigid axis.
Function
The lubricant is supplied to the lubrication pinion by
the drilled axis and the corresponding crosssectional opening in the bush. Radial drillings in
the segments deliver the lubricant onto the gear
wheel’s surface at grease version. The radial
drillings in the segment can be omitted at the
version with oil lubrication!
Due to the contact of the gear wheels, the lubricant
is supplied onto the surfaces of gear wheels and
thooted racks like with a sponge.
A special PU lubrication pinion, driven by the input
gear or the toothed rack, stores the lubricant partly
due to the used material, and applies it in the
smallest proportioning onto the gearing which is in
contact. An overlubrication is avoided by this. The
PU lubrication pinion does not transmit power or
torque.

Connecting a suitable metering device or a central
lubrication system at the axis of the lubrication
pinion
by means of a hose or a tube, a certain
completement of lubricant over a long time period
is achieved. This ensures a wearfree operation of
the gears over long periods.

Function
PU-lubrication pinion for chains
An open-celled PU lubrication pinion that is driven by
a wear resistant plastic pinion stores the lubricant
partly due to the used material and applies it
selective onto the surface of brackets and roller
chains. Lubricant is supplied through the axis and
the according drilling holes in the bush into the foam
material.
A non-return valve is integrated in the axis that
prevents an unintentional escape of lubricant.
The plastic pinion is installed parallel to the chain’s
running direction. Due to the plastic pinion, the
optimal distance of the foam material rolls towards
the link plate is adjusted. Hence slips or wear of rolls
are prevented.
When connecting a suitable metering device or a
central lubrication system to the pinion’s axis by
means of a hose or a pipe, a wearfree operation of
chains over a long time is guaranteed.

Re-filling:
After the pump has been switched off, the main line is
emptied (into the reservoir) and the spring pushes
the piston back into its normal position for the next
cycle. Via the ring opening, the dosage space is
again filled with lubricant. When the drilling for spray
air is pressurized, the air gets into the lubricant
chamber and delivers the medium to the lubrication
point. For a safe re-filling the following lubrication
pulses must be observed:

at least 5 seconds*

Piston stroke:
As soon as the pump delivers lubricant, it flows from
the main line to the metering valve and pushes the
delivery piston towards the non-return valve at
approx. 20 bar. The lubricant, which is in the dosage
chamber, is pushed through the non-return valve
and delivered to the lub point. The conical nipple of
the delivery piston prevents any lubricant leakage
and the valve sleeve prevents the lubricant from
reaching the spray air in the connection hole.

spray on the rolling element happens direct att he
scraping pointt hrough a nozzle typed narrowing.
By regulation att hrottle 4 the stream of air has to be
adjusted thatt he oil is comming out att he scraping
point regular without interruption.
The non return valve prevents that oil reaches into
the compressed air supplying. The lubrication point
pipeline generally a tube with dia. 4 mm should have
a minimum length of 0,5 m. The pipeline shouldb e
spooled spiral for preventing a return flow of oil into
the the lubrication point pipeline.
Using a transparent pipeline makes possible to
watch the oil during the transport.

The lubrifiant quantity which is especially necessary
att he scraping point is dependent from the type of
bearing, breadth andb earing line number. The recommended value, for defination of the maximum oil
quantity couldb e assumedb y the following formula.
The outflow opening for the oil/air mixture with a diameter of 0,8 mm shouldb e directed for spraying in
the middle of rolling element andb earing ring. Each
bearing line must be supplied separately.
An air outflow opening in spraying directionand a
sufficiently oil drainh ole must be guaranted to avoid
the building of an oil marsh.

The high pressure lubrication gun HAP is used for
the lubrication of half automatic central lubrication
systems.
The battery-powered device with integrated flow
meter is connected to the lubrication nipple of the
single line / progressive distributor via a high
pressure hose. When actuating the grease gun,
lubricant is supplied to the distributor with high
pressure.
The grease quantity can be checked at the flow
meter and hence an exact quantity of lubricant per
distributor is ensured.
A grease volume counter can, additionally to the
analogue indication, be installed to monitor the
lubricant demand.
The lubrication of individual lube points via
lubrication nipple is possible.
