Forgiveness and Empowerment

In this workshop we will explore the paradoxes and processes of forgiveness, and find out how every act of
forgiveness that is freely chosen increases our power, strength and flow.
One paradox of forgiveness is: 'When you truly forgive there is nothing to forgive'.
What does this mean? Is it really true? We'll go into this.
Another paradox is that people are often told (or believe) that it is 'good' to forgive, it is ‘the right thing to
do’ but saying (or thinking) this can increase the suffering of the person trying to forgive (or not wanting to
forgive).
How can we embrace these paradoxes and still, in a living way that is true to ourselves, engage in processes
of forgiveness? We'll explore these edges.
With full consideration of the paradoxes we will use several processes to engage in:
* forgiving ourselves - forgiving others - ‘social forgiveness’ (forgiving an act we find hard to
accept in the world)
We'll also consider
- the relationship of anger to creativity, forgiveness and empowerment
- how to spot the places where we have not forgiven ourselves or others
- what to do when we don’t want to forgive
The workshop will include the ‘Educator/Chooser Dance’ (one of the NVC Dance Floors) which is a
powerful process for coming to peace with something we did or said that we are not at peace with (i.e. self
