Corporate Responsibility
Stakeholder management and decision making
On 26 May 2014, Nijmegen School of Management will host a Corporate Responsibility
conference. In this conference, interactive workshops allow students, PhDs, alumni
and other interested parties to engage in discussions with representatives from the
international business community. On the one hand, the students can learn from and
ask (critical) questions about all aspect of Corporate Responsibility related matters to
members of companies or industries. On the other hand, the guests from the business
community can also learn from the questions and experiences that the students have to
offer.
Workshops will be hosted by representatives from ING, Shell, Deloitte, KPMG, ABN
AMRO and Unilever (other firms may join in the coming weeks). We aim for a dialogue
between representatives and participants instead of one way presentations. A plenary
discussion will contrast and combine the insights from the various meetings. Prof. Dr.
Freeman, a renowned scholar in the field of management for stakeholders, will close
the meeting with a plenary presentation.
The Corporate Responsibility conference is relevant to everyone interested in
how multinationals or large organizations manage the expectations of the various
stakeholders. Conflicting opinions on matters such as fossil fuels, responsible sourcing
and responsible investing will illustrate the confusing reality in which managers
increasingly have to make their decisions. There are many interesting developments
underway and at the same time there are no easy answers to be found. Participants will
get a glimpse of what to expect in their own immediate futures.
