Conference Law and practice of asset segregation Juridische vraagstukken rond de dood Friday 13 June 2014, Euronext Amsterdam, Beursplein 5 The Hazelhoff Centre for Financial Law 2014 conference will address the rules that (should) govern the segregation of assets. We will focus on the situations when such rules really matter, i.e. when intermediaries or infrastructure institutions fail. We believe this to be an extremely topical issue, as the last five years have seen such failures, raising fundamental questions regarding the holding of cash, of securities, as well as of derivatives. The topicality is illustrated by, for instance, recent European legislation (initiatives) in this field: EMIR and the Securities Law Legislation. We intend to approach the subject from a theoretical, but also from a practical perspective. As a matter of course, ample attention will be devoted to the settlement of trades concluded on the exchange and on the relationship between investors and issuers.
