Fifth Bruges European Business Conference on Thursday 27 March 2014, College of Europe campus in Bruges, in partnership with Deloitte: “Europe: Avoiding a Second Lost Decade”. Germany’s Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble and the former Prime Minister of Italy Professor Mario Monti will gather together at the College of Europe, next March 27th to discuss about how to reignite growth in Europe on the occasion of the Fifth Bruges European Business Conference (#5BEBC). The purpose of the conference is to bring together European political and business leaders to discuss how to avoid another lost decade and secure prosperity and socio‐economic growth for the years to come. The impending elections to the European Parliament and the coming into office of the new Commission necessitate a fresh debate on how to end the current malaise of the European Union. Invited speakers, representing all mainstream political views, will be able to present their vision for the future of the European Union, outline their proposals and debate on how to reignite growth. Le Ministre des finances allemand Wolfang Schäuble et l’ancien Premier Ministre d’Italie le professeur Mario
Monti se rassembleront au Collège d’Europe le 27 mars prochain, à l’occasion de la cinquième Bruges European
Business Conference (#5BEBC), pour discuter comment relancer la croissance européenne.
Le but de la conférence est de réunir des décideurs du monde politique et d’entreprises pour discuter comment
éviter une autre décennie perdue et comment garantir la prospérité et la croissance socio-économique pour les
années à venir. Les élections prochaines pour un nouveau Parlement européen et la formation d’une nouvelle
Commission nécessitent un débat publique sur les chemins de sortir du malaise actuel dans l’Union européenne.
Tous les intervenants invités, représentant les différentes vues politiques principales, auront l’occasion de
présenter leurs vision sur l’avenir de l’Union européenne et leurs propositions pour relancer la croissance. Outre le

Europacollege in Brugge, in samenwerking met Deloitte: “Europe: Avoiding a Second Lost
Decade”.
Wolfgang Schäuble, Duits Minister van Financiën en oud Premier van Italië, Prof. Mario Monti, komen samen in
het Europacollege in Brugge op 27 maart, in het kader van de vijfde ‘Bruges European Business Conference
(#5BEBC), om te bespreken hoe ze een heropleving van de Europese groei kunnen bewerkstelligen.
Het doel van de conferentie is om Europese politieke leiders en ondernemingsbeleidsmensen samen te brengen
om te bespreken hoe men een nieuw verloren decennium kan vermijden en hoe men de welvaart en de socioeconomische groei voor de komende jaren kan verzekeren. De komende verkiezingen voor een nieuw Europees
Parlement en voor een nieuwe Europese Commissie vereisen een hernieuwd debat over de manieren waarop de
actuele malaise van de Europese Unie een halt kan toegeroepen worden. De uitgenodigde sprekers, die alle
mainstream politieke overtuigingen vertegenwoordigen, zullen de kans krijgen hun visie en hun voorstellen op de
toekomst van de EU toe te lichten en te debatteren over hoe een heropleving van de Europese groei kan
bewerkstelligd worden.
