• The Language and Literacy Levels reflect
the language and literacy students need to
access the Australian Curriculum across
learning areas at their year level from R-10
• Each Level is equivalent to the same ESL
Scale.

and professional learning modules) can be
accessed by teachers at any time
• Face to face professional learning including
train the trainer sessions are delivered by the
EALD Program
HOW LEADERS CAN SUPPORT THE
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LEVELS
• Include targets about Levels progress in Site Literacy
Plan
• Provide release for teachers to be trained in assigning
Levels
• Participate in such professional learning
• Provide release for teachers to assign Levels and to
participate in internal moderation
• Use EDSAS Levels History Report to monitor student
progress
• Use EALD funding to provide intervention for EALD
students based upon their level of need as indicated by
their Levels
