On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Hispano Latino

Dear Sir/Madam:
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Hispano Latino American (HLA) Chapter of the Academy for Eating
Disorders and the Board of Directors of Fundación CETAI Mendoza, we would like to encourage you to
participate as an sponsor or exhibitor at the "XI Hispano Latino American Congress on Eating Disorders" ("XI
Congreso Hispano Latino Americano de Trastornos de la Conducta Alimentaria"), "Argentine Congress of Eating
Disorders, Obesity and Diabetes" ("Congreso Argentino de Trastornos Alimentarios, Obesidad y Diabetes") and
"Mendoza’s Healthy Youth Meeting" ("Encuentro Mendocino por una Juventud Saludable"), November 11-13,
2015, at the Centro de Congresos y Exposiciones and Auditorio Angel Bustelo in Mendoza, Argentina.
The AED HLA Chapter is a multidisciplinary group formed by members and prospective members of AED that
brings together the Spanish and Portuguese speaking areas of the world for the purpose of working towards
education, awareness, research, and collaboration in clinical and academic efforts in eating disorders through an
active and enthusiastic membership. We had organized ten annual congresses and several regional conferences
always in collaboration with the local team of professionals from our Chapter.
Our annual congress has become the premier event for the eating disorders professional community in Latino
America, drawing a vast audience of our Spanish speaking colleagues who are not able to attend the ICED of the
AED or have a language barrier.
Exhibiting at, or supporting our congress, is a cost-effective way for your organization to be part of the Hispano
Latino American community of professionals and this important platform for scientific exchange, clinical
dialogue, and professional networking.
Last year, our 2014 congress drew over 300 participants. We expect a large turnout for the meeting in Mendoza.
Please review the Exhibit or Sponsorship and Advertising Contract that is attached to this letter.
The Secretariat of the XI Hispano Latino American Congress on Eating Disorders will make the process of
reserving your exhibit or developing the right support package simple for you. Please let us know if you have
questions, or if we can count on seeing you in Mendoza.
Sincerely yours,
Dra. Eva Trujillo, FAED

BASIC PRINCIPLES
 These prevalent diseases of the eating behavior truly affect the mental and physical health, the
development and social integration of human beings.
 There is still no clear awareness in the population -especially the youth who feels social pressure- of
the risk of hiding information as to signs and symptoms of eating disorders and their associated
diseases. Neither is there awareness of the concept of being overweight as synonym of wellbeing,
when according to the WHO both overweight and obesity have reached a pandemic level that in
Latin America exceeds 50% of the general population.
OBJECTIVES
 To share experiences and knowledge of interdisciplinary teams of the Hispanic-Latin American
health sector that work with people with eating disorders and associated diseases.
 To agree on common approaches to address overweight and obesity affecting a large part of the
world's population.
 To acquire appropriate techniques for early detection and prevention of these diseases in
adolescence and childhood.
 To agree on appropriate treatment modalities and new therapeutic approaches for these high-risk
disorders, in order to obtain an optimal psychological and physical recovery.
 To motivate young people to discover their own abilities to "feed their physical and mental health"
and become promoters of this knowledge in their own environment.
 To raise awareness about the importance of promoting these concepts.
