The main function of the hydraulic shutoff valve is to isolate the tank or the pipe cutting off the
supply of flammable product through the quick-close in case of fire, through a thermal fuse.
The hydraulic shutoff valve provides a fast cutting of flow in pressure tanks and directly into lines.
It utlizan principlamente in pressure tanks of flammable gases such as LPG (liquefied petroleum
gas), ammonia tanks and similar applications
They are used in pressure vessels with flammable gas such as LPG (liquefied petroleum gas),
ammonia tanks and similar applications.
The CE5500 serie is available in the following sizes:
•
2” model CE5502, flanged connection ANSI/ASA RF 300 Lbs
•
3” model CE5503, flanged connection ANSI/ASA RF 300 Lbs
•
4” model CE5504, flanged connection ANSI/ASA RF 300 Lbs
•
6” model CE5506, flanged connection ANSI/ASA RF 300 Lbs
The CE55 hydraulic shutoff valve is made of cast steel and machined steel bar, so its design
doesn’t include any welding.
It’s operating principle is based on hydraulic pressure. The valve remains open due to the
hydraulic pressure against the spring and the product pressure acting on the valve piston.
When the hydraulic pressure exceeds that exerted by the spring and the product, the valve
opens allowing the product to pass through it.
However, in the case of a hypothetical fire, the thermal fuse at 74 ºC release the hydraulic
pressure, causing that the spring pressure and the pressure of the product column
immediately close the valve isolating the tank or the supply line.

Its installation requires a hydraulic pump to pressurize the hydraulic shutoff valve.
This valve is not designed for use as a standard control valve.
The same hydraulic shutoff valve can be mounted on the inside of the tank (Figures 1 and 2)
for gas phase lines or liquid phase lines; as well as in line (Figure 3) installed in COH spools.
Concerning the fluid, its action is bidirectional and the pressure and design of the piston (rod)
resists the opening due to the pressure tank.
