been selected to receive MCU Scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic year.

is named for a long time Members Credit Union Board member. Mr. Loftin has chaired
the credit union’s Scholarship Committee since its inception in 1997. He also serves as
a member of the North Carolina Credit Union Foundation’s Scholarship Committee.
Barbara McAnulty – Hickory, NC – $2,000 Dan Elkins Scholarship. In honor of
our late board member who was instrumental in the development of our scholarship

MCU@Home
PIN Change Delayed
The upgrade to MCU@Home and MCUmobile that was scheduled for Monday, April 20th, has been delayed until
Monday, May 11th, to allow for additional product testing. We want to be certain that all aspects of our home banking
and mobile banking are functioning properly before introducing this upgrade to our membership.
As part of this upgrade you will need to log in, on May 11, to MCU@Home and follow the prompt to change your PIN,
the four digit code that you type in to access your account. MCUmobile users will not be able to log in to MCUmobile
(an “Invalid PIN” message will display) until they log in to MCU@Home and change their PIN. You do not need to
change your PIN until the upgrade takes place on May 11th.
You will be required to use four numbers other than your birth date or last four digits of your social security number.
These numbers are the most commonly used PINs and easier to guess than a random number. This requirement will add
extra security to MCU@Home and make it harder for someone else to access your account.
Once you change your PIN on MCU@Home, you will use your new PIN to access your account through TellCom
& MCUmobile.

MCU Continues to Teach Financial
Literacy
Nine Members CU employees visited East Surry High
School in Pilot Mountain, NC on April 15th to conduct
four Mad City Money Reality Fairs. During the reality
fair, students experience what it will be like to manage
their finances as an adult. Each
student is given a job, income,
a family, and debt and expected
to make financial decisions
based on their monthly takehome salary. Mad City Money
is an excellent program for
students to practice building
a budget and understanding
how to use financial tools,

Spring Cleaning
Your Your
Finances
As the temperatures rise and flowers begin to bloom, many will start to clean their homes and get rid of all the dust and
dirt that accumulated over the winter. This year, be sure to expand your spring cleaning to include your personal finances.
Just after tax season is the perfect time to perform an annual evaluation and tidy up your financial habits.
Check On Your Credit Report
The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting agencies to provide one free
copy of your credit report to you once every 12 months. Equifax, Experian and TransUnion are the three nationwide
agencies and you can request one from each of them by visiting www.annualcreditreport.com or by calling 1-877-3228228.
The information on your credit report includes a list of your monthly debts, how you pay your bills and repay loan debt,
and how much credit you have. Potential lenders will use this information to determine if you are a good credit risk.
Reviewing your credit report on a regular basis is a good way to combat identity theft and ensure there are no mistakes
that could hurt your chances for a loan in the future.
Update Your Budget
If you have undergone any major financial change, like receiving a big promotion or switching from two incomes to
one, it’s time to revisit your household budget. Having an influx of income will allow you to adjust any debt payments
or savings allocations to keep your finances stable throughout the year. However, if you are switching from two incomes
to one, it’s necessary to readjust to minimize any unexpected expenses or weak spots in the budget. Regardless of your
situation, Members CU members can take advantage of our Financial Solutions program, created by Money Management
International (MMI), that is designed to assist in reaching any personal financial goals, such as creating and maintaining
a successful budget. This benefit is free for our members and provides 24/7 access to personalized financial help. To learn
more, please visit http://www.memcu.com/financial-solutions/.
Revisit Your Insurance
Pull out your life, homeowner’s (or renter’s), and car insurance policies and review each to ensure they are up to
date. Then, evaluate your premiums, deductibles, and coverage levels to make sure each is suitable for you today.
For example, if you have made significant renovations or additions to your home, be sure to take the upgrades into
consideration when updating your policy and evaluating your coverage levels. Once you have a grasp of where you are,
or where you would like to be, begin to shop around and ask for new quotes from trusted companies, including Members
CU. We have teamed up with the best insurance providers around to make it easier and more affordable to protect you,
your family and your assets. Please visit http://www.memcu.com/protect/ to review
our list of providers and their insurance products.
Eliminate Paper
Paper bills and statements take up a lot of room on your desk, so move your
financial life online to cut clutter. Members CU members can sign up for
free electronic statements, eStatements, and members who have a checking
account can sign up for free online bill pay, eBill, to save time and money.
To sign up for eStatements you must opt in from your MCU@Home online
banking service. If you haven’t signed up for MCU@Home visit, www.
memcu.com and click on “Online Banking” at the top of your screen. Create
a MCU@Home account by clicking on New Internet Banking User and
following the instructions. If you already have an account, log in and click on the
“Accounts” tab, and choose eStatements from the drop down menu. Follow
the directions to sign up. This will opt you out of receiving statements
through the mail.

personas.
