Good Friday Reminder
Just a reminder Marvelous families next week Wednesday, April 1st will be a FULL DAY of school with a 4:15 dismissal, Thursday, April
2nd will be an early release with a 1:15 dismissal, and Friday, April 2rd there is NO SCHOOL due to Good Friday. If you have any
questions please call the front office 713-967-8200.
IMPORTANT REMINDER:
STAAR testing is here! Please make sure your child is in school EVERY DAY prepared and ready to give 100%. It is extremely important
that each student gets enough sleep and eats a healthy breakfast every day. Keep in mind that students will be in their testing
classrooms for a long period of time and will NOT be allowed to eat snacks in their assigned rooms nor have their cellphones. During
STAAR testing day’s parents will NOT be allowed to drop off any lunches to their students. Students will be provided with a sack lunch
or they may bring a cold lunch from home. If you have any questions please call the front office 713-967-8200. Please note the STAAR
testing dates below:

March 30th – STAAR (7th Writing) End of Course Exam (English I)

March 31st- STAAR (7th Writing & 8th Reading)

April 1st- Benchmarks (US History & Algebra I) End of Course Exam (English II)*** FULL DAY OF SCHOOL***

April 20th- STAAR (8th Math)

April 21st- STAAR (6th, 7th Math & 8th Social Studies)

April 22nd- STAAR (6th, 7th Reading & 8th Science) ***FULL DAY OF SCHOOL***

April 24th- STAAR Make-Up Testing ***1:15pm Dismissal***
March of Dimes:
YES Prep West is participating in our third annual March of Dimes Walk on April 26, 2015. The 5K walk will be held at the University of
Houston and will start at 8:00 am. We are very excited to be part of this program, and we would love to have your support! It is
MANDATORY for all players of any team sport this school year to raise money and attend the 5k walk. Our goal for this year’s donation
to the March of Dimes is 1000 dollars. We will have donation jugs in the ROCK for each grade level for all students to donate pennies,
nickels, dimes and dollars. We are also selling YES prep March of Dimes T-Shirts this year to raise funds and awareness. Parents and
students can purchase this shirt for ONLY 10 dollars!! Come down to my office to get a purchase form, and if you buy this t-shirt, you
can wear it Friday with jeans. If you are interested in participating or have additional questions, please contact Coach Burroughs:

Deadline for submitting money is MONDAY (3/30/15) AT N OON!!!! Money goes towards
helping fund cultural field trips for our West Marvels. YES, you can wear these shirts on
Fridays. Contact there people to place a shirt order:

Recordatorio del Dia Feriado
Sólo un recordatorio para nuestras familias maravillosas la próxima semana Miércoles, 01 de abril será un día completo de la escuela
con salida a las 4:15, Jueves, 02 de abril será una liberación anticipada con salida 1:15, y el viernes, 2o de abril no hay escuela debido
al Viernes Santo. Si usted tiene alguna pregunta por favor llame a la oficina 713-967-8200.
Recordatorio Importante:
Pruebas del STAAR están aquí! Por favor, asegúrese de que su hijo/a este en la escuela todos los días preparad o y listo para dar el 100%. Es
extremadamente importante que cada estudiante duerma lo suficiente y comer un desayuno saludable todos los días. Tenga en cue nta que los
estudiantes estarán en sus aulas de pruebas durante un largo periodo de tiempo y no se les permite comer bocadillos en sus habitaciones asignadas
ni tener sus teléfonos celulares. Durante STAAR, padres los días de pruebas NO se les permitirá dejar ningún almuerzos para s us estudiantes. Los
estudiantes dispondrán de una bolsa de almuerzo o pueden traer un almuerzo frío de casa. Si usted tiene alguna pregunta por favor llame a la oficina
713-967-8200. Tenga en cuenta las pruebas STAAR con las fechas a continuación:

March of Dimes (Caminata)
YES Prep West está participando en la tercera marcha anual de Dimes el 26 de abril de 2015. La caminata de 5K se llevará a cabo en la Universidad de
Houston y se iniciará a las 8:00 am. Estamos muy contentos de ser parte de este programa, y nos encantaría contar con su apoyo! El March of Dimes
está abierto para todos los padres, estudiantes y personal que le gustaría ayudar a la recolección de dinero y / o caminar el 5k. Es obligatorio para
todos los jugadores de cualquier deporte de equipo este año escolar para recaudar dinero y asistir a la caminata 5k. Estaremos enviando hojas de
permiso en una fecha posterior a todos los estudiantes que deseen viajar en autobús escolar a la universidad para participar en la caminata. Nuestro
objetivo para la donación de este año con la Marcha de Dimes es de 1000 dólares. Podemos alcanzar este objetivo con los padres y los estudiantes y
ayuda de personal. También estamos vendiendo camisetas de YES Prep de March of Dimes camisetas este año para recaudar fondos y crear
conciencia. Los padres y los estudiantes pueden comprar esta camisa por sólo 10 dólares !! Pueden venir a mi oficina para obtener un formulario de
compra, y si usted compra esta camiseta, usted puede llevarlo viernes con jeans. Si usted está interesado en par ticipar o si tiene preguntas
