Germany: 9.080.000 members 2. UK: 8.300.000 members 3. France: 4.960.000 members 4. Spain: 4.891.000 members 5. Italy: 4.740.000 members • Continued potential for growth nevertheless still exists in the German fitness market, as becomes clear when analysing market penetration (the number of fitness studio members compared to the total population). While markets such as Norway (19.6%), Sweden (16.6%) and the Netherlands (16.0%) have significantly higher penetration rates, Germany was in the middle of the pack among European countries with 11.2%. • Diversification of offerings and continued polarisation of price segments: growing numbers of discount and premium providers as well as increasing diversification of offerings (special-interest providers taking root alongside conventional full-service providers). • Digitalisation of the industry: Part of the Deloitte study was the first quantitive analysis of the online fitness studio market. At the end of 2014, online fitness providers had 358,000 people registered, some 64,200 of whom were active users of digital content paying monthly fees of about €5.00 to €15.00. Well more than 100,000 trade and private visitors are expected to attend. They’ll do more than focus on business – they’ll also be celebrating the 30th anniversary of this leading international trade show. FIBO, the trend show: new concepts and technologies Many of the major manufacturers are planning on releasing their innovations to the public in coming weeks. Current fitness sector trends are broadly diversified and highly differentiated by target group. The fitness industry is increasingly dealing with the inevitable digitalisation of society. Training support technologies are a perennial issue, and fitness and health apps have become indispensable staples. At FIBO, the industry will showcase new solutions aimed at capturing data and networking all sorts of devices – at the gym, on the go and at home. The increased use of wearables reveals that the population is becoming more and more health conscious. Germany’s so-called “second healthcare market” of privately funded health-related products and services is growing and growing. The fitness sector has long ago emerged as an important actor in this market. At FIBO MED, the trade fair will once again offer a vast range of training equipment for use in physiotherapy, rehabilitation exercise, prevention training and exercise therapy. Once again in 2015, exhibitors in Hall 7 – dubbed the “Healthcare Hall” – will include wellknown companies such as Ergo-fit, five-Konzept, fle.xx, LMT, Ludwig Artzt, Schnell Trainingsgeräte and proxomed. More than one in six trade visitors at FIBO today hail from healthcare professions: executives, managers and investors from hospitals, physicians’ offices, physiotherapy practices and centres, rehab centres, the corporate healthcare segment, health insurance providers and health-oriented fitness studios. Another ongoing trend is functional training and various spin-offs such as fascia training or calisthenics. Of course FIBO will cover this movement, especially in Hall 9 where major brands, including Transatlantic Fitness, LES MILLS and Escape Fitness Limited, will present what they have to offer. The “FIBO Functional Forum” featuring IFAA, Perform Better and Trainer Magazine will be staged again. The sector’s top experts will present the theoretical underpinnings and practical applications of the latest in functional training equipment and concepts on 300 square metres. Visitors will be encouraged to actively participate each day. Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH Völklinger Str. 4 D - 40219 Düsseldorf Press Department: Dr. Mike Seidensticker (Ltg.)
