Zuvor war sie für die KAS im Ausland tätig, u.a. in Vietnam. Frau Dr. Mensel wird sich in ihrem Vortrag mit der Rolle der deutschen politischen Stiftungen in der EZ beschäftigen und von ihren Praxiserfahrungen in Vietnam berichten. Sidhu is Associate Professor with the Department of International & Strategic Studies, University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, having served there since 1989. In addition, he is also frequently invited as Guest Lecturer to the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College, Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College and the Senior Officers College of the Royal Malaysian Police. Apart from that, he was also commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia to undertake research on Malaysia´s Overlapping Territorial Claims with Brunei. His major works include (ed.) The Seas Divide: Geopolitics and Maritime Issues in Southeast Asia (Kuala Lumpur: University of Malaya, 2008), Historical Dictionary of Brunei Darussalam (Lanham: Rowman & Littlefield, 2010). Schmertmann ((Florida State University, Tallahassee, USA, Gastwissenschaftler am ISD): “Bayes + Brass: Estimating Total Fertility for Thousands of Small Areas from Sparse and Possibly Unreliable Data“ Prof. Carl P. Schmertmann ist Professor of Economics am “Center for Demography & Population Health” der Florida State University in Tallahassee, USA. Der promovierte Ökonom (UC Berkeley) forscht unter anderem in den Bereichen der mathematischen und statistischen Demographie, der Migration sowie der Modellierung und Prognose der Fertilität. Des Weiteren ist er Herausgeber der Zeitschrift Demographic Research. What happened lately? Der Lehrstuhl Statistik und Ökonometrie hat am 19.5. den Pokal der Fachschaft Wirtschaftswissenschaften für die Evaluation Übung/Seminar überreicht bekommen. Insbesondere die Übung von Gordon Frank zur Vorlesung "Statistische Modelle" im vergangenen Wintersemester war dabei ausschlaggebend.
