DW JOURNAL DW JOURNAL July 2014 “Respecting the path of life.” Dear Family and Friends, As we approach the Fourth of July holiday, I found myself reflecting on the symbols of patriotism. The American flag, bald eagle, and The Pledge of Allegiance are all symbols expressing patriotism for many individuals. The seniors, whom reside within Diamond Willow, have a plethora of vivid memories of reciting The Pledge of Allegiance in their one-room school houses. I am often amazed and humbled as a frail hand automatically rises to be placed over their heart, while passionately reciting The Pledge of Allegiance. Even those with memory loss are often capable of reciting this life-long memorized pledge. I have watched seniors without the physical ability to stand, attempt to rise the moment they hear The Pledge of Allegiance. Even when the body is no longer physically capable, the mind signals them for the desire to stand. Certainly, many of our seniors and/or their family members served in the military. Their service to our country taught us all the value of freedom. As we gather to watch the beautiful fireworks displays, may we all pause with a patriotic appreciation for those who defended and are currently defending the freedom of all Americans. It may sound old fashioned, but our aging seniors are counting on us to stand tall as they have year after hear and proudly recite… Sincerely, Natalie Zeleznikar, Vice President of Operations DW JOURNAL Campus Listing Diamond Willow Alexandria Lake Agnes Suite Lake Henry Suite 803 Victor Street 803 1/2 Victor Street Alexandria, MN 56308 Alexandria, MN 56308 320-762-1448 320-762-2067 RN: Robin Loeks 320-219-0767 Director of Operations: Sara Kleinschmidt 218-591-7541 Diamond Willow Baxter Scandia Suite Fjord Suite 14396 Grand Oaks Dr 14398 Grand Oaks Dr Baxter, MN 56425 Baxter, MN 56425 218-825-7034 218-825-7162 RN: Shelli Kampen 218-839-8136 Director of Operations: Sara Kleinschmidt 218-591-7541 Diamond Willow Cloquet Stillwell Suite Trygg Suite 130 W.
