Z+F LaserControl®
Automatic target registration
Z+F LaserControl® provides all necessary tools to
manage your scan jobs efﬁciently. It is a unique
software solution with complete workﬂow from
data capturing to delivery. Three different software
packages are available for getting the ideal solution according to your needs.
Targets can now be detected and labeled automatically. This includes standard paper targets as
well as the Z+F Proﬁ Targets. Z+F LaserControl®
8.5 is able to use the naming convention of survey
control points, if available.
“Auto-Mapping” of panorama images
Elements
Z+F LaserControl® Elements allows you to view
and browse your point cloud data without any
cost. Besides checking the accuracy status of the
device calibration, basic measurement functions
are implemented. Furthermore it is the key to access and operate all Z+F products of the entire Z+F
IMAGER® and Z+F PROFILER® family. Download
your free version of Z+F LaserControl® Elements at
www.zf-laser.com or contact your local Z+F partner.
Sometimes, external camera imagery is captured
from the same location as the scanner for panorama processing. Z+F LaserControl® 8.5 allows to
automatically align and map the panorama onto
the point cloud. There is no further need for manual alignment work, which requires selecting homologous points on the panorama and the scan
(64-bit version only).
Professional
Z+F LaserControl® Professional is the standard
solution for common use with every laserscanner
of the Z+F IMAGER® and Z+F PROFILER® series.
Filters allow differentiated pre-processing of scan
data and are the key to a highly accurate registration. By adding colour information with the included
colour module the scan data is ready for post-processing through a wide range of export formats.
Naturally all Z+F LaserControl® Element features
are included. In addition the kinematic function offers extended usability for proﬁling applications.
Professional PLUS
Z+F LaserControl® Professional PLUS offers extended functions for registration, additional data
visualisation and project management tools. Both,
Cloud-to-Cloud and Plane-to-Plane registration
decrease the need of targets dramatically. Saving
time in the ﬁeld and in the ofﬁce are the striking
beneﬁts of these future orientated registration
tools. Furthermore ﬂy throughs can be generated, simulated and saved. Your static imagery can
be rectiﬁed and printed to scale. The relocation of
misplaced data with the mirror ﬁlter is the adequate tool to process your point clouds to perfection.
Finally the linktool offers you the best usability for
project management.

3D PDF export
Z+F LaserControl® 8.5 supports the export of point
clouds and other objects into 3D PDF, which can
be read with the free Adobe Reader! Installing
software on the client’s system is not necessary
any more because the Acrobat Reader is already
installed on most systems.

“Multi-Window-View”
The new multi-window system allows you to analyze your data concurrently in various dimensions.
Z+F LaserControl® 8.5 updates each view (3D
View, BubbleView, Overview Mode) in real-time
which allows easy examination of data in 2D and
3D at the same time. Especially together with the
new measuring tools, the new multi-window system reveals its full potential. The user can easily
select points in 2D, while the hovered point will simultaneously be shown in 3D. It reassures that the
correct point is selected at all time.

Perpendicular measurements
The perpendicular measurement tool allows you
to quickly measure the distance from a point to a
plane. This is extremely useful if you need to measure the width and height of rooms.
“Snap to Height”
The measured points can be projected onto a
plane at a user-deﬁned height. It offers the possibility to rapidly compute area information directly
from the point cloud. The tool can also be used to
quickly outline the ﬂoor plan of a room and to determine its area.
New measuring tools:
Enhanced Orthophotos
“Auto-snapping” to corners and edges in
the point cloud
The new auto-snap feature to corners and edges
enhances your measuring workﬂow immensely. It
allows you to pick corner points or points on edges
quickly and easily in 2D, eliminating the time needed for positioning and zooming in 3D. This enables you to perform quick outlining of features with
polylines, e.g. for elevations, sections and ground
plans.
The display of orthophotos was drastically improved, providing higher resolution through automatic
mosaics and high-contrast intensities. “Overview
Orthophoto” is a quick solution to create maps and
ceiling plans, straight out of the overview mode. In
addition, orthophotos can now also be exported
as a VRML ﬁle, even in high resolution.

Z+F LaserControl® 8.5
“Project to-go”
“Overview Window”
Take your project and viewer software with you
on a regular ﬂash drive. This function copies your
entire project to any drive together with a portable
version of Z+F LaserControl® 8.5. Thus, no software installation is required for viewing the project. “Project to-go” offers
enormous advantages for
the project review process
and the communication
with customers and especially with corporate networks.
The overview mode was enhanced to allow accurate positioning and scaling of background maps
or satellite images and to adjust opacity. In addition, the overview mode now supports direct measurements.
“Multi touch support” and Multi windows
Further new features:
Z+F LaserControl® 8.5 provides support for multitouch enabled devices, such as Windows tablets.
The tablet version includes all functions of Z+F LaserControl® 8.5 and is designed to be used on-the
go or in the ﬁeld.
