The sole purpose of the booth was to create awareness amongst MATTA members that there was a new kid in town – one that was created specifically to watch over the interests of the members from Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya. It was also for members to get to know one another and for the members to advise KL Chapter Executive Committee on their concerns / suggestions on activities for the Chapter. 4.2 The new chapter held a B2B session in Dec 2013 called KL Tourism Business Meet, jointly with Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur. The organiser for this maiden project was Committee Member, Uzaidi Udanis. Date Venue 17 Dec 2013 Dataran Merdeka (underground) Remarks For a first project, it was very successful. KL Executive Committee feels that the interests of the members must be foremost. Many of the smaller travel agencies are not able to join the bi annual MATTA Fairs, so a session like this is of great assistance to them. Several of these industry players have requested that this be an annual affair and the KL Chapter Executive Committee has agreed to hold it in 2014 and 2015 as well. Although generating profit was not the main focus of the event, the KL Chapter Executive Committee is glad to announce that a surplus of RM22,483.30 was realized from this event. 4.3 Proposed Cruise from Penang to Phuket & Langkawi & back Organiser: Committee Member Mr Cooper Huang Date Venue June 2014 Libra 2 Remarks 1. This will be headed by Chairman Ms Judy Cheah. The 1st Fellowship was originally planned for 28 Feb 2014 but this has been deferred. Members will be informed of the fresh date as soon as possible. 6. KL Chapter Exco Committee would like to put on record: Chairman serves as a member of the Constitution Review, Finance Committee, Inbound Committee, Ticketing Committee and is also the Chairman of MATTA Fair March 2014. She is also the alternate director of TCRS. Deputy Chairman Mr Mita Lim serves on Caretaker Committee for Penang Chapter. Committee Member En Uzaidi Udanis is VP of Education and Training and in this capacity also serves on the Board of MATTA Academy. Committee Member Ms Vimala serves on MATTA Fair March 2014 Committee, Ticketing Sub Committee, Outbound Sub Committee and Research & Technology Sub Committee. She is also a Committee Member of MATTA Fair March 2014. Committee Member Mr Chong serves on the Ground Transportation Sub Committee. 7. Conclusion: KL Chapter is the new kid on the block. Although it has been in existence for less than a calendar year, the Chapter has made its presence felt. Many of the Chapter Executive Committee Members serve on National MATTA Executive Council and its sub committees; and play an active role in the various activities organized by MATTA. The Chapter also works closely with Tourism KL and Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur. Their joint first project was an unqualified success. KL Chapter’s main focus remains the welfare of its members. Accordingly KL Chapter has earned a lot of goodwill and created awareness among the industry players that there is a new Chapter to represent the interest of members in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Further, the proposed annual B2B sessions would ensure that the Chapter is able to project a higher profile among the industry and be effective in helping the members in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya Adam Kamal Hon.
