CERTIFICATE IV IN GOVERNMENT (INVESTIGATION) - WORKSHOP PROGRAM
Structure
The program consists of 3 workshops with the first 2 focused on training
and the final being an assessment workshop albeit some assessment is
conducted in the first 3 days and coaching is provided in the final 2 days.
All 3 workshops may be completed over 5 consecutive days or as individual
workshops spread over a more extended period up to 2 years. In addition
to the workshops participants complete a number of post-workshop
assessment projects. These projects replicate the workshop assessment,
but within a workplace setting, to meet prescribed performance
requirements. The workshops must be completed sequentially:
STAGE 1: Certificate in Corporate Investigations (2-day Workshop)
Key learning outcomes for this workshop include:
 Assess, plan, conduct and project manage an investigation
 Gather, manage and control evidence
 Apply investigative interviewing protocols and techniques
 Interview a witness and record their evidence
 Conduct a formal record of interview with a respondent
STAGE 2: Certificate in Investigations Report Writing (1-day Workshop)
Key learning outcomes for this workshop include:
 Conclude investigation and consolidate information and evidence
 Report investigation outcomes and evidence
 Explain findings and/or recommendations for adjudication
STAGE 3: C4 Assessment Workshop (2-day Workshop)
Case study based activities where participants work in small groups, pairs
and as individuals to commence, conduct and complete an investigation
using processes and techniques learnt at the training workshops.
The
activities have been developed to also integrate assessment of the public
service units in the areas of public service values, workplace legislation,
regulatory powers, workplace diversity, customer service, policy and
workplace safety.
STAGE 4: Post Workshop Projects (4-12 weeks)
Participants are supplied with electronic templates to replicate the
workshop assessment activities to a workplace relevant situation. On
submission of the project any 'evidence gaps' will be identified and further
tasks negotiated by the participant and assessor.
