CERTIFICATE IV IN GOVERNMENT (INVESTIGATION) - PSP41512 WORKSHOP PROGRAM Sydney- Melbourne - Brisbane 2014 CERTIFICATE IV IN GOVERNMENT (INVESTIGATION) - WORKSHOP PROGRAM Overview The Certificate IV in Government (Investigation) - PSP41512 is a nationally recognised qualification accredited under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). It is prescribed by the Australian Government Investigations Standards as the recommended qualification for people working, or seeking to work, as a government investigator. This workshop program provides flexible options aligned to the occupational requirements of individual participants and their employers. Alternative electives may be selected when the program is delivered internally. www.sydneyinstitute.com.au 2 CERTIFICATE IV IN GOVERNMENT (INVESTIGATION) - WORKSHOP PROGRAM Structure The program consists of 3 workshops with the first 2 focused on training and the final being an assessment workshop albeit some assessment is conducted in the first 3 days and coaching is provided in the final 2 days. All 3 workshops may be completed over 5 consecutive days or as individual workshops spread over a more extended period up to 2 years. In addition to the workshops participants complete a number of post-workshop assessment projects. These projects replicate the workshop assessment, but within a workplace setting, to meet prescribed performance requirements. The workshops must be completed sequentially: STAGE 1: Certificate in Corporate Investigations (2-day Workshop) Key learning outcomes for this workshop include: Assess, plan, conduct and project manage an investigation Gather, manage and control evidence Apply investigative interviewing protocols and techniques Interview a witness and record their evidence Conduct a formal record of interview with a respondent STAGE 2: Certificate in Investigations Report Writing (1-day Workshop) Key learning outcomes for this workshop include: Conclude investigation and consolidate information and evidence Report investigation outcomes and evidence Explain findings and/or recommendations for adjudication STAGE 3: C4 Assessment Workshop (2-day Workshop) Case study based activities where participants work in small groups, pairs and as individuals to commence, conduct and complete an investigation using processes and techniques learnt at the training workshops. The activities have been developed to also integrate assessment of the public service units in the areas of public service values, workplace legislation, regulatory powers, workplace diversity, customer service, policy and workplace safety. STAGE 4: Post Workshop Projects (4-12 weeks) Participants are supplied with electronic templates to replicate the workshop assessment activities to a workplace relevant situation. On submission of the project any 'evidence gaps' will be identified and further tasks negotiated by the participant and assessor. www.sydneyinstitute.com.au 3 2014 CERTIFICATE IV IN GOVERNMENT (INVESTIGATION) - WORKSHOP PROGRAM Internal Delivery This program may be delivered internally and customised to incorporate applicable organisational procedures, policy and/or legislation. In addition the four elective units (refer page 2) may be substituted to more closely align the program to work objectives. In this regard any four units from one or more of the following clusters may be selected: FRAUD INVESTIGATION Monitor data for indicators of fraud Conduct fraud control awareness sessions Receive and validate data Conduct data analysis REGULATORY COMPLIANCE Promote client compliance Assess compliance Undertake inspections and monitoring Undertake compliance audits Act on non-compliance Conduct search and seizure Conduct surveillance Make arrests Prepare a brief of evidence Give evidence CRIMINAL PROSECUTION (additional training days and increased costs apply for this option) Note: The 'dual award' feature of the Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance) will not be available if units are substituted unless more than the required 15 units are completed. This may result in additional costs and workload for participants which will be specified in a business proposal prior to project engagement. A business proposal will be provided following initial discussions on course structure, participant numbers and workshop locations. A minimum of 6 and maximum of 22 participants apply for internal delivery. Travel costs apply outside the Sydney area.
