Synergic Activities



OUTREACH: Designed and executed a 2 h hands-on AFM session within a KSU wide Excite
workshop designed to explore STEM fields by 8th and 11th grade young women (7/2012, about 25
students attended). Conducted and organized half a day physics laboratory activities for preschool
kids designed to further develop children's natural wonder and build a strong foundation for early
science exploration (10/2010, about 15 kids attended); Chaired and co-organized 1st MathPhysChem
one day hands-on symposium for middle school students in Kansas to increase their future interests
in Sciences, Manhattan, KS (10/2010, about 40 kids attended); co-chaired and co-organized one day
5th, 4th, and 3rd Annual Symposia at KSU on Biological Chemistry and Biological Physics for current
high school and community college students in Kansas as well as interested teachers and sponsors
to extend education and to encourage students to pursue careers in natural sciences, Manhattan, KS
(4/2011, 4/2010, 4/2009, each time about 90 high school students attended).
Referee: Nature, Nanoscale, Nanotechnology, Langmuir, Biophysical Journal and several others.
Attended James R. Coffmann Leadership Institute (8/2010) – three-day in-residence leadership
development experience for KSU faculty and professional staff.
