Invitation to the Psalms – Disciple Class
The Psalms are unique in holy
scripture in that they both are the Word of God to us, and also expressions of
deep human concerns to God about every kind of human need. A study group
opportunity will begin with an organizational meeting on January 13th at 10:00
a.m. The class will then meet every Tuesday through March 24th. If there is
interest, the class will be repeated on Tuesday evenings, 6:00 – 7:30. This
class will be led by Dr. Julian Walthall, who worships with us at Trinity.
Participant book costs $15. Please call the church office to RSVP.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who

suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and
was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day
he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at
the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge
the living and the dead.

Do you believe in the Holy Spirit?

Hymn 188
Jesus Loves Me!
Almighty God, we confess that we have not been an open people.
We have not been open to the life-enriching possibilities of
forgiving another's sin; of filling another's need; of understanding
another's misdeed; of sharing another's grief; and of bearing
another's burden. Merciful God, we beg your forgiveness for being
cautious, afraid, and for holding back. Forgive our brokenness, and
in your grace make us whole once more. This we pray in the lifegiving spirit of Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
Hymn 121, stanza 4
O holy Child of Bethlehem, Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin and enter in, Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels The great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us, Our Lord Emmanuel!
Hymn 581, GLORIA PATRI
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen, amen.

Prayers of the People and the Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy
kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we
forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver
us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the
glory, forever. Amen.
