A musical event by Salam Abu-Amneh in Cinema Jenin Garden
Organized by Naqsh Band for popular arts and in coordination with Cinema Jenin, a musical evening event was
held on April 5th and Salam Abu- Amneh performed. The evening was a huge success and had a great audience.
An interactive day for children with special mental needs
Cinema Jenin held an interactive event in coordination with Al-Amal School and Voices Instite for children with
special needs. The event started with screening of a ﬁlm in the Cinema Hall and a theatrical act in Al-Amal School
during Farah-wa-Marah activities on April 6th.
The Palestinian British Film Week in Cinema Jenin
On April 12th in cooperation with the Young Palestinian Filmmakers Association, Cinema Jenin launched a movie
night during the Palestinian British Film Week.

Screening of the ﬁlm "Two Meters of this Land"
Two Meters of this Land directed by the young Palestinian director Ahmad Al-Natsheh who was born in Spain,
was displayed on Cinema Jenin screen. The ﬁlm impressed the local community and had great reviews which
was discussed at the end of the ﬁlm with the director.
Hosting Al-Quds Open University graduation ceremony
Within Cinema Jenin vision where all community cultural events take place, Cinema Jenin hosted Al-Quds Open
University graduation ceremony for students with honours on April 14th.
A German delegation visiting Cinema Jenin
Due to the importance of foreign visitors to Cinema Jenin, CJ received a German delegation on April 23rd to
be updated with the latest developments in Cinema Jenin and its 3 facilities.

Displaying Omar In the AAUJ
Based on our plan to access a wider audience, Cinema Jenin signed an agreement with the Arab American
University in Jenin, initiated by displaying the ﬁlm Omar by the Palestinian director Hany Abu-Asaad, in the
conference room at the AAUJ.
A musical and poetical evening in Cinema Jenin garden
On April 27th, Cinema Jenin organized a musical and poetical evening in collaboration with the Ministry of
Culture for a young Palestinian poet Bashar Tmeezi and for Al-Kamandjati as an opening of the summer season
in the outdoor cinema .
Screening of PINA 3D
Displaying Pina ﬁlm comes from the continuous cooperation between Cinema Jenin and Franco-German
Cultural Centre. So, Cinema Jenin gave the audience the chance to see the ﬁlm in 3D, which tells the story of
the famous German dancer Pina Bausch and her students.

Jenin Jenin, a photo exhibition and a solidarity state in the memory of Al-Nakba (the Catastrophe)
Cinema Jenin launched its activities on the third day through Jenin Jenin, the photo exhibition which was put
together by photographers from the local community. The exhibition showed pictures of the Nakba and its
continuous effect on Palestinians until this day. The exhibition re-opened on May 15th to the memory of the
Nakba that took place in the Palestinian history in 1948. The exhibition was attended by an extraordinary public
presence both ofﬁcial and unofﬁcial.
Kindergarten graduation ceremonies in Cinema Jenin
From May 13th to the end of the month, 8 different kindergarten graduation ceremonies in Jenin were organised to take place in Cinema Jenin which provided all the needed support for their success.

Nora Abu-Madi in Cinema Jenin for Music Festival
Music Festival, which has become hosted annually by Cinema Jenin and organized by Al-Kamandjati. A concert
was held on June 11th in the outdoor cinema, with participation of the Takht Sharqi band of Al-Kamandjati
students, and the Palestinian singer Nora Abu-Madi
A Film Workshop in Cinema Jenin KinoPal
KinoPal project , which began in a series of ﬁlm workshops from June 13th to June 19th, targeted 25 students.
The work continued to complete the ﬁrst phase of the project of viewing the premier on June 21st to the last
phase of viewing the ﬁnal premier on June 26th . The project achieved a great success and ended with a debate
with the local community. The project had a huge attendance.
Shababeek Show
Over the past few months, we worked on completing the theatrical show Shababeek, which was directed by the
Portuguese director Paulina Almeida and acted by a group of young actors and actresses from Jenin and actors
from Awlad Al-Balad Theater. The show is based on a collection of Palestinian stories and it was presented on
June 18th , 21st and 22nd . Their was a big participation from the local community.

Orchestra in Cinema Jenin within the Music Festival
Also as part of the 12th Music Festival, which is organized by Al-Kamandjati Orchestra in partnership with
Cinema Jenin, A musical event was set to play Beethoven's Fifth Symphony at Cinema Jenin on June 19th. The
audience were very pleased with the performance .
Cinema Jenin cine-club meeting
Cinema Jenin club members met on this month to see the Palestinian ﬁlm Salt of this Sea, invoking the issue of
the Palestinian identity.
Film produced by Bisan
Due to the partnership with Bisan Foundation for Developmental Research, Cinema Jenin displayed short ﬁlms
on June 25th to discuss the risks that stand behind the joint industrial zones, where people who are interested
in this cause attended the meeting and together they had a debate where they discussed the risks.

A Training Course in Theatre
A Training course in theater was taught by the trainer Helin Celik in Cinema Jenin, for a group of eight students
between the ages 14-18.
A Photography Workshop
A Photography workshop was given by volunteers, George Hooker and Martina Babisova, to two groups of
students between ages 13 and 21, where the workshop lasted one month.

Outlook For The Future
First of all I would like to thank all those who generously supported and contributed to Cinema Jenin project in
the last four years . Although it was successfully opened in 2010, the truth is, it was equipped with minimum
technical requirements to support all forms of various arts , music , dance , photo exhibition , cinema and
theatre. The overall goal of Cinema Jenin was to break the situation of cultural isolation and give the local
community an opportunity to practice their passion in cultural and artwork activities. A big multicultural
audience was created in the last few years..
But the fact is, Cinema Jenin is facing a lot of challenges and obstacles such as shortage in ﬁnancial resources
and lack of new technical equipment causing a serious drawback in its progress.
To put Cinema Jenin on the right track, the following job positions are urgently needed :

To improve our technical situation we are urgently in need of the following equipment:

2. Theatre lights
3. Stage monitors
4. Light Mixers
These are our most needed requirements, with which Cinema Jenin can give a much higher technical standard,
and will allow us to achieve a quantum leap in artistic level.
Cinema Jenin with all the blink that was created, the role of establishing a constant work production of art and
culture, considers the relationship with all its partners and friends in the world an urgent need to gain access
to the pillars of integration that can highly empower this project and help it stand on its feet .
Future projects we are currently working on :
“ The Wall ” a documentary ﬁlm being made and produced by Cinema Jenin about the Apartheid wall in Palestine. The premiere will be ready for screening in summer 2015.
Children Film Festival, workshops in ﬁlmmaking and photography will be given to children between 12-17
years, by local and Foreign volunteers during August and September 2014, to prepare for the” children ﬁlm
festival ” in December 2014 where all parents of the young ﬁlmmakers are invited to see their children’s special
talents .
Circus and Theatre Show, Cinema Jenin is organizing a circus and theatrical show in collaboration with Palestinian Circus actors . The show will be held in October 2014.
