HIGH SCHOOL NEWS/NOTES:
Doug Nichting, store manager of the Kirksville Wal-Mart, presented $50 gift cards to each teacher at LHS on
December 18 as part of Wal-Marts partners in education program. LHS was nominated and selected by the
employees of the Kiirksville Wal-Mart as the area school to receive the 20 gift cards.

On December 19 all students who had over 90% attendance, did not receive a D or F, and did not have any
discipline referrals in the first semester were rewarded with a day of PE games, board games, computer games,
movies, and pizza for lunch.

On December 16th all students of the month for the first semester were taken to the Macon Pizza Hut for
lunch as a reward for being selected student of the month by the teachers of LHS. Congrats and keep up the

FCCLA will host a STAR event showcase night in the high school commons on Monday, January 26 @ 6:30 p.m. All of the
community is encouraged to attend to see all of the work the students have put into each of their events. The following
students will be presenting: Zach Fleak, Alexis Wood, and Madison Ebeling on their 5K run; Brooklyn Weber, Maddy
Craig, and Bethany Jackson on Christmas in the Park; Makenzie Beautte on making a quilt out of recycled t-shirts; Tucker
Noah on food innovation; Laurissa Stidham and Makiah Bolden on FCCLA in review/what our club has done this year; and
Kelsi Hemmerling and Baylon Belt over trunk or treat.

Science Club News:
Science Club will be attending Eagle Days in Keokuk Iowa on Saturday, January 17. Permission forms are due to Mr. Walgren
or Mr. Sims by January 16. Students without a signed permission form will not be allowed to attend.
Art Club News:
Several Art Club members stayed after school on Thursday, December 18th, to create handmade ornaments for Christmas gifts. Many ornaments were hand painted or Decoupaged onto a circle canvas and then framed out with a wooden
hoop. On January 27th, Art Club members will be given the opportunity to stay after school for a clay experience and try
throwing clay on a potter’s wheel as well as work on hand building techniques in sculpting clay.
Bulldog Backers: Next meeting on January 13th after the Atlanta Basketball Games in LHS Library.

FFA News:
Congratulations to Zachary Carr for receiving a $1,000 National FFA Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) Grant fromChore Time Brock Inc. for Poultry Production expansion project.
Dec 1-16th: The FFA Chapter sponsored the 3rd Annual Christmas Project Change Drive. Students & Teachers throughout
the district donated $700 in change for 13 families for the holiday season. FFA members, Ameal Sturgeon, Trevor Pipes and
Kendrick Payne shopped for the families and fellow members helped sort and organize food pick-up for families.
Dec 8-12th: FFA Members delivered Fruit and Cookie Dough, members sold record breaking amount of products this year.
Dec-Feb: Students are selling Luck of the Irish Banquet Tickets! There are only 250 tickets to be sold, see a member or
contact Mrs. R to purchase yours today!
March 21st: 1st Annual Luck of the Irish Banquet will be held in the High School Gym. Ticket prices are $30/person or $50/
couple. Menu items include chicken or prime rib, hashbrown casserole, green beans, salad, roll and dessert. The entertainment will feature Mr. Kennedy and The Busted String Band and various other acts. Multiple door prizes and gifts will be
raffled off throughout the evening. You do not need to be present to win.
