LHS was nominated and selected by the employees of the Kiirksville Wal-Mart as the area school to receive the 20 gift cards. Shelby TBA FCCLA will host a STAR event showcase night in the high school commons on Monday, January 26 @ 6:30 p.m. All of the community is encouraged to attend to see all of the work the students have put into each of their events. Art Club News: Several Art Club members stayed after school on Thursday, December 18th, to create handmade ornaments for Christmas gifts. Many ornaments were hand painted or Decoupaged onto a circle canvas and then framed out with a wooden hoop. On January 27th, Art Club members will be given the opportunity to stay after school for a clay experience and try throwing clay on a potter’s wheel as well as work on hand building techniques in sculpting clay. FFA News: Congratulations to Zachary Carr for receiving a $1,000 National FFA Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) Grant fromChore Time Brock Inc. for Poultry Production expansion project. Dec 1-16th: The FFA Chapter sponsored the 3rd Annual Christmas Project Change Drive. Students & Teachers throughout the district donated $700 in change for 13 families for the holiday season. FFA members, Ameal Sturgeon, Trevor Pipes and Kendrick Payne shopped for the families and fellow members helped sort and organize food pick-up for families. Dec 8-12th: FFA Members delivered Fruit and Cookie Dough, members sold record breaking amount of products this year. Dec-Feb: Students are selling Luck of the Irish Banquet Tickets! There are only 250 tickets to be sold, see a member or contact Mrs. R to purchase yours today! March 21st: 1st Annual Luck of the Irish Banquet will be held in the High School Gym. Ticket prices are $30/person or $50/ couple. Menu items include chicken or prime rib, hashbrown casserole, green beans, salad, roll and dessert. The entertainment will feature Mr. Kennedy and The Busted String Band and various other acts. Multiple door prizes and gifts will be raffled off throughout the evening.
