SERVPRO of Rocky Hill/Sequoyah Hills/South Knoxville wants to remind homeowners to beware of the fire hazards that unfortunately come with this happy season! Many know lighted decorations and dry Christmas trees are a culprit but you may not realize the 10 days with the highest average of fires are after Dec. 25 because it is tempting to stop watering the tree, replacing outdoor bulbs or tucking indoor garlands away from fireplaces or sockets. For more safety tips visit www.servpro.com. The Chamber welcomes new CEO of Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center, Ben Youree! Youree comes to Knoxville after serving as CEO at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center (Dyersburg, TN) since 2012. Youree is excited about his role at TCMC, saying, “I am honored to support their work that makes this hospital a great place for patients to receive quality, personalized care.” Tennova Healthcare CEO, Neil Heatherly felt Youree’s “strong track record of advancing the care and experience for patients will benefit our health system and the community.” Congratulations to Corporate Quarters as they celebrate 20 years of making your comfort their business and providing business travelers and individuals displaced due to relocation or life events with furnished housing and other helpful amenities! Each December the Chamber hosts its Holiday Open House as a way of welcoming the season and saying “Thank you” to the members who support us all year long. Members’ donations of their business’ services, time, and food are essential to the event’s success; this year was no exception. Rothchild’s Events & Catering set up a festive outdoor tent in front of the Chamber office on Dec. 11, decorating it with holiday lights and green and gold draped tables. The 4 to 7 p.m. Open House saw most guests start by touring the tent sampling food from local restaurants and businesses. Abuelo’s, Archer’s BBQ Knoxville West, Best Bagels & Deli, Big Kahuna Wings, Brenda Beaty Cooks4U, Calhoun’s, Jets Pizza, Kroger, Sam’s Club West, Sherrill Hills Retirement Community, The Shrimp Dock, and Snappy Tomato Pizza of Farragut all served up a variety of their signature menu items. Dixie Lee Wines & Liquors kept guests’ glasses sparkling with great wines and liqueurs while The Casual Pint – Northshore teamed up with The Casual Pint – Farragut to offer a duo of craft beers. Mind Yer Ps & Qs, the only wine and beer lounge in the area, showcased select beers on tap as well! A record number of faces were seen throughout the evening. All enjoyed seasonal music and live student performances courtesy of Angela Floyd School of Dance & Music. There was even a guest appearance by Santa Claus (volunteer Scott Jones). Guests inside the Chamber office enjoyed fresh coffee from local roaster Spero Coffee by the 9foot tree, as well as red and white floral arrangements from Posh Petal Designs. The Chamber’s conference-room-turned-dessert-den was spread with cakes, pastries and cookies from Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop, Clarity Pointe Knoxville, Costco, Fairfield Inn & Suites Knoxville West, “Mom’s” Truffles, NHC Assisted Living, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, and samples of Eggnog, Red Velvet and Berry frozen yogurt from Sweet Frog. A long line quickly formed outside the president’s office for Oasis Day Spa’s complimentary chair massages! The Chamber staff was very proud of the gold Giving Tree which collected donations for Mission of Hope. By the end of the evening the crowd had filled the floor with toys and warm clothing. Mission of Hope helps families in the nearby rural Appalachian communities suffering from poverty, have a happy holiday. Director Emmett Thompson was on hand to thank guests throughout the night and volunteers rolled two brimming industrial bins out of the Chamber the next day! Chamber intern Aleah Reno-Demick was the grateful recipient of a Continuing Education Grant which was presented by Bettye Sisco in recognition of her exceptional work at the Chamber during her senior fall semester. RenoDemick will graduate from Farragut High School in the spring. Thank you again to ALL who helped make this event the success that it was. We hope to see everyone again next December and wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday! Since 2005, Christmas Décor of Knoxville has been instrumental in decorating the area for this festive season. The company provides extravagant exterior holiday displays to local commercial and residential clients. Owner, Jinni Redmond, says Christmas Décor is different from other businesses of its kind because, “We don’t call our customers ‘customers’, we call them ‘clients’ because we want to partner with them.” This partnership allows the client to be involved in every aspect of the decorating process, from the design to the installation. Having the clients involved ensures their satisfaction and allows Christmas Décor to create a display unique to each home or business. The company not only does complete exterior decorating, but also offers roof displays and decorating for weddings and events year-round. “Whatever our clients want, we make it happen,” states Redmond, “We will go above and beyond to ensure their happiness.” Christmas Décor has done just that for many homes and businesses in Farragut. Volunteer Pharmacy, Rick Terry Jewelry Designs, and Farragut Wine and Spirits are just a few of the businesses where Farragut residents can admire the company’s work. However, putting up magnificent displays is only part of what Christmas Décor of Knoxville does. The company was founded with a dedication to philanthropy. They believe it is their duty to spread the joy and spirit of the holidays, not only to their clients, but to those in need as well. Over 10% of profits are donated to charities for children. “We make sure our clients know where their money is going and most are all too happy to help,” explains Redmond. So, this holiday season, give back to the community while also becoming the best decorated business or house on the block! Give Christmas Décor of Knoxville a call at 865-769-0039. NOTE: The Chamber appreciates all of Aleah’s hard work this past fall and will miss her greatly! We wish her much success in her new hostess position at Chamber member Hurricane Grill & Wings on Lovell Road as well as in completing her senior year at Farragut High School.
