Troubles in the church
Christ as the head and the church as the body agree in the saying “ Many
a me have they troubled me, from my youth up”. When we think that
from the beginning of the story of the Jewish naon when Pharaoh oppressed the people unl now when we see the current crisis around the
world from ISIS, the killing of innocent children in Pakistan and the recent siege in Sydney.
It is sad that at the me we celebrate the birth of Christ the hatred of
those who do not know kindness strikes in our world. Herod in his anger
in not being able to get hold of the baby Jesus kills all of the under two
male children in has protectorate. The number is believed to be just
over 40, however, even the loss of one person, child or adult, is too
greater a number both then and now.
God intervenes as part of his plans for the world and Joseph, Mary and
baby Jesus flee to Egypt. Joseph was not aware of the danger but as before in the dream about Jesus’ birth he knows immediately what to do in
obedience when the angel approaches him again.
The terrible events in Sydney remind us that in tragedy people turn to
their main source of comfort as churches are filled with people mourning
and praying to God.
If only they could connue that journey then a greater peace would fall
upon our land. However, we are a complex humanity and soon the
world overtakes again the tragedy of what has happened as it did with
heartbreak of MH370, MH17, as it did with 9/11 in America. If only the
world would return as one to the creator.
Oswald Chambers writes “God’s order has to work up to a crisis in our
lives because we will not heed the gentler way. He brings us to a place
where he asks us to be our utmost for Him, and we begin to debate; then
He produces a providenal crisis where we have to decide- for or against,
and from that point the Great divide begins. If the crisis comes to you
then surrender to him absolutely and irrevocably.”
