A. POST CONTEXT SHAPE IS THE STRATEGIC HEADQUARTERS FOR ALLIED COMMAND OPERATIONS.
THE OPERATIONS DIRECTORATE AT SHAPE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THAT ACO FORCES ARE AT THE STATE OF
READINESS REQUIRED TO CARRY OUT AN EFFECTIVE DEFENSE UNDER THE TER MS OF MC 400. J3 LEADS THE STAFFING
OF OPERATIONS, PLANS ANO POLICY ISSUES RELATED TO CURRENT OPERATIONS ANO NEAR TERM FUTURE
OPERATIONS. THE AC2 PROJECT MANAGEMENT BRANCH ENSURES THE OVERALL OPERATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS OF
NATO AIR C2 SYSTEMS THROUGH CAPABILITY ANO REQUIREMENTS MAINTENANCE ANO MANAGEMENT OF AIR C2
SYSTEMS SUPPORT ANO MAINTENANCE BUDGETS. THE AIR C2 SVSTEMS TRANSLATES OPERATIONAL AIR C2 MISSION

C. PRINCIPAL DUTIES
THE INCUMBENT'S DUTIES ARE:
1) SUPERVISES NATO AIR C2 SYSTEM SUPPORT ARRANGEMENTS, INCLUDING TACTICAL DATA LINK ELEMENTS,
ACCORDING TO THE POLICY UNE COMING BY HIS CHAl N OF COMMAND.
2) REPORTS TO THE CELL CHIEF AND ADVICES HIM ON SUPPORT MATIERS TO BE COORDINATED WITH CHAIRMEN AND
SECRETARIES OF ASSOCIATED NATO
COMMITIEES (E.G. THE AIR COMMAND CONTROL STEERING COMMITIEE (AIRC2
SC), THE ACCS ADVISORY COMMITIEE, THE LIFE-CYCLE CONFIGURATION CONTROL BOARD (LCCB), THE ACCS HARDWARE
AND SOFTWARE COMMITIEES OR ANY OF THEIR SUCCESSORS), THE NATO INTERNATIONAL STAFF AND INTERNATIONAL
MILITARY STAFF, AND NATIONAL AUTHORITIES, ACO SUBORDINATE COMMANDS, AND NATO PROCUREMENT AND INSERVICE SUPPORT AGENCIES.
3) ADVISES OPERATIONS STAFF ON NATO AIR C2 SYSTEM SUPPORT POLICIES AND CAPABILITIES.
4) ADVISES THE CELL CHIEF, PROVIDING HIM WITH LEVELS OF ACCEPTABLE TECHNICAL RISK TO SPECIFIED NATO AIR C2
SYSTEMS, IN SUPPORT ACTIVITIES.
S) IN COORDINATION WITH APPROPRIATE NATO BODIES, DEVELOPS DRAFT POLICIES, CONCEPTS, PLANS AND
PROCEDURES FOR EFFICIENT SYSTEM MAINTENANCE OF NATO AIR C2 SYSTEMS.
6) IN COORDINATION WITH APPROPRIATE NATO BODIES AND IN SUPPORT TO THE CELL AND SECTION CHIEF, SUPPORTS
THE DEVELOPMENT OF CPS/ADDENDA/ PROJECTS/TRANSITION PLANS IN SUPPORT OF NATINAMDS EVOLUTION AND
SUPERVISE THEIR APPROVAL/IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS.
7) ACTS AS CHAIRMAN OF NEC CCIS CONFIGURATION CONTROL BOARD AND MANAGES TASKING OF THE NEC CCIS
SYSTEM SUPPORT CENTRE.

DECISION AUTHORITY IS HELD:
- PROVIDES OPERATIONAL PRIORITIES FOR SUPPORT OF SPECIFIED AIR C2 SYSTEMS, ON BEHALF OF SHAPE TO CCB,
NATIONS AND SUPPORT AGENCIES:
- ADVISES LEVELS OF ACCEPTABLE TECHNICAL RISK TO SPECIFIED AIR C2 SYSTEMS, IN SUPPORT ACTIVITIES.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES: MIGHT BE REQUIRED TO DIRECT AND SUPERVISE THE WORK PRIORITIES OF AN AD HOC TEAM
WITHIN THE FUNCTIONAL AREA.
THERE ARE NO FIRST UNE REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES.

FREQUENTTRAVEL TO TDY LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT ACO IS ENVISAGED.
