The Osprey “Beachcomber” will have you thinking about your impact during your visit to this paradise. remnants of the WWII Bickley Battery where, during the war, two 6 inch guns protected the south passage to Fremantle from enemy ships. 5 Jubilee Observation Post – Walk the highest elevation of the Bickley Bay area and enjoy 360 degree views of the Island and surrounding waters. Discover the complexity of the military installations on the Island. 6 Henrietta Rocks – Rottnest reefs have proven treacherous for many mariners. Discover the “Shark’s” secrets below the water’s surface. Oliver Hill – Discover Oliver Hill Battery, which consists of tunnel structures supporting two 9.2 inch guns and railway lines. Explore the unique Salt Lakes ecosystem and enjoy the illusion of walking on water as you adventure off the beaten track and discover what makes the Salt Lakes a significant habitat in Western Australia. 1 2 3 Vlamingh Lookout – Start your journey with some of the best views on the Island. From Vlamingh Lookout you’ll gain real perspective of what you’ll find beyond the Settlement. The Causeway – As you wander along the edge of Herschel Lakes you’ll discover the lakes have a very complex natural and cultural history. 5 Lake Baghdad – Stop and be entranced by the birds dancing on the Salt Lakes. These lakes have been recognised as Wetlands of National Importance, and as an Important Bird Area (IBA) for seabirds. 4 Thomsons Farm – Discover the Fays Bay first farm on Rottnest as you traverse what was once the Thomson family farm. Relics from the agriculture era can be seen from remnants of farm buildings, troughs and fencing.
