Bobcat Bulletin
“Twas the Month of December”
‘Twas the month of December, and all through the school
The children were bundled, the weather was cool.
The snow pants and boots in the lockers were stored,
The children in classrooms were anything but bored.
The PTO members were busy with the Holiday Fair preparations,
Assembling the ornaments, Kidland and silent auction donations.
The custodians worked to set up the gym space,
We were all filled with anticipation, oh how our pulses did race.
While out in the lot there was no parking space to be found,
Grandparents, cousins, parents and children did bound.
Into the school the masses did flow,
Santa was ready to hear holiday wishes and take a photo.

After the fair the learning continued to grow,
It is only December; there is still so much to know,
When walking the halls what did I hear,
Each grade level singing diverse holiday cheer.
With the teacher directing they sounded real slick,
I figured my ears were not being tricked.
More rapid than a dreidel could ever be spun,
The annual holiday sing-a-long rehearsals had begun.
Sing Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls and Silent Night,
Or Kwanzaa, or Frosty, Oh Christmas Tree so bright.
Sing it loud! Sing it proud!
Sing it soft! Sing it light!
December 23rd, the last song had been sung,
The next sound we heard indicated 2014 was done.
The school bell it rang, it was time to dismiss,
We knew all of the boys and girls we would miss.
As the buses were boarded and then drove out of sight,
I heard the teacher’s exclaim, that empty halls just didn’t feel right.
Fortunately, 2015 was not far away,
The children would return ready to learn and to play!
Wishing a happy holiday season from our Southern Bluff family to yours!

Thanks to all families and staff who participated with the Pear drive in November.
Our goal was 300 cans which we surpassed by collecting 385 cans. The pears will
be used for the Salvation Army's holiday meal basket program. Many different
schools, churches and community groups collected different food items to make 500
meal baskets for local families. Student Leadership students were responsible for
collecting, counting and keeping track of our goal. Thank you for helping make the
holiday's special for families in need.
Healthy Snacking Ideas
Do not serve foods containing trans fat……………..Trans fat is an unhealthy fat because it increases the risk of
certain diseases. Trans fat is often hidden in packaged foods like muffins, cookies, brownies, and crackers.
Some brands of popcorn and peanut butter may have trans fat too. Read nutrition labels and only select foods
with 0g of trans fat. By law, products containing up to 0.49 grams of trans fat per serving can still be listed on
the nutrition label as 0 grams of trans fat. Check ingredient list and avoid buying any foods that list “partially
hydrogenated oils”; this means there are trans fat in the food.
