Set up your swap shop - Wear It Beat It

Get ready to host
a swap shop.
THE IDEA IN A NUTSHELL
Calling all fundraising fashionistas – this one’s
for you. It’s a great way of getting your hands
on some cheap chic while raising much-needed
money for the British Heart Foundation.
We’re calling it the Swap Shop and here’s
how it works.
Ask all your friends to bring along at least one desirable
item of clothing that they’d like to swap. Collect all the
items and ask for a donation from those who want to
take part. Then host your very own pop up Swap Shop.
Let your guests browse the clothes on display and make
their choice – it’s a great chance to pick up something
a little different from usual. Expect some lively exchanges
if two people have their eye on the same item.
PLANNING YOUR EVENT
1Find a good place to set up your shop,
with enough space to display the items.
4Let them know the rules before
the event, to avoid disappointments.
2Send out invites well in advance.
3Tell them you’re after the sort of things that
others will want to wear, the more the better.
WHAT TO DO ON THE DAY
Some simple steps to hosting a successful
Swap Shop:
•Lay all the items out where people
can easily browse.
•
Give everyone half an hour to see
what’s on display.
•
Place everyone’s names into a
hat or bowl, draw them one at a time.
•
When each swapper’s name is called
they can go and claim one item they want.

If any items are left over, take them to your nearest British Heart Foundation Shop.
Suggested donation
We think you should ask for a contribution
of between £5 - £15 to take part, then the
swapping is for free.
